Been told fine is possibly 50 euros + 5 euros per kph

Outside built-up areas it's € 50 fixed fine up to 10kph over the limit, then an additional € 5 per kph and if you're more than 30 kph over limit, an 8-day ban and court if more than 40 kph over.
So that might be 165 Euros ouch!
I am changing the oil on my Verso at 6500 miles prior a run down to Spain. The first service will be done in October. Is it prudent to change the Auto box fluid as well. I used to change my last Verso (Petrol) engine oil every 5-6ooo miles and the auto box oil every 30000 miles, and both were like new after 10 years. I am an old fashioned engineer and like to take care of my machinery. Read more
Thanks to you all, every one is right in their own way. If the car wasn,t' going to have a good run down to Spain I would have probably left it a bit longer, but this box does have the odd problem it seems. Personally I think a change would be good, like the engine, it has now run in, so it would get rid of any potential build debris and keep any possible sludge out of the bearings. As I said, I am a bit old fashioned , but 40 years of aircraft maintenance has made me cautious. Oil is like blood, keep it fresh.
Current Volvo is a bit too asthmatic for towing the caravan, so my cunning plan has been to do an autotrader search for a petrol engined car, 3.0 to 3.9 litre, up to 10 years old, max price £5000. As you will be aware the site narrows the range of manufacturers for you.
Mercedes - overpaying for the badge. Ditto BMW. Audis all seem to be quattros, don't think I need it really. Don't want a 4x4 of any kind. Don't want a diesel either. Nearly went for a Phaeton but the repair bills will make me sad.... Read more
To echo a couple of posts above, I would try and find a Subaru Spec. B Legacy.
Proper "Q" car.
I know that it is advertising revenue for the site, but I strongly object to adverts of this nature on the site. I think that HJ is generally a force for good and should ban this sort of advertising, especially as some people looking at the site for legal advice might be tempted to fund any legal proceses via such a loan.

Thank you very much for your email alerting me to this. It’s one of those adverts that has snuck through the net! We use a few different ad networks and though we apply strict block lists some unfortunately get through. If you see it again and it’s possible to take a screen shot of the offender I would be very grateful....
Hope someone can help.
At the weekend thought I would clean up the two lower pipes to and from the intercooler as the one from the turbo was looking very gungy. Removed both and cleaned them up. I did not touch anything else. Car started fine today but was clear during my journey that something was wrong, firstly it started jerking and no power from turbo. Ran OK but lacking in power due to no turbo. Car was running normal before I worked on car and I all I did was clean the lower pipes. Could it be that the gaskets on these pipes are not now sealing, not sure if this is a factor. Any help/guidance gratefully received. Please help. Read more
Good you got it fixed & thanks for posting an update.
Doesn't take much of a leak to make a big difference to performance and perceived turbo lag...
I have a Ford Fiesta zetec 1998 and yesturday everytime i went to put it into a gear all I would get is grinding or I would have to ram it into a gear. Came to traffic lights and it would almost stall while I was in gear, in the end i couldn't even get it into gear and had to pull over and get my dad to drive as he could get it into gear. Does anyone have any idea wether the gearbox or the clutch has started to pack up or something inbetween. I would really appreciate a solution to this! Thanks in advance! Read more

In the What's Good section of the Golf MkVII Estate review under trim levels there is a reference to "......a leather trimmed handbrake grip". Does this mean that the new estate does NOT have an electronic parking brake? This is the one feature that puts me off buying this car. I am too old to cope with change or am I fussing about nothing? Read more
Thank you for all your contributions. Yes, it is quite clear that the new estate has an EPB so mention of a leather trimmed handbrake grip is a bit misleading. I think I will have a test drive of the Mk VII hatch and see how I get on with this new fangled device! Many thanks to all.
I have a 52 plate Meriva. Runs perfectly well when it does, but has a very intermittant problem.
After a run, and being left for an hour or so, It will start, somewhat reluctantly, and run OK, but will not rev at all. When left for a few more hours it behaves perfectly OK. A bit embarrassing when it does so for the RAC man !... Read more

Just a thought: aircon on or off whilst pulley is bouncing (and does it still bounce with aircon off?)?
Any damage seen on the belt as it's going round?
