My friend (despite my advice about buyers fees), purchased a vehicle from manheim at one of their centres.
The car had the additional of a vehicle check (not worth the paper its written on) which cost him an additional £30 (may have been £35 - cant remember, long day) on top of the buyers fee.... Read more
I need a part for my MX-5 and I have googled it extensively - I cannot find it, basically. I don't usually need to buy any bits for my cars except wipers and tyres and I have no idea which would be a reputable and reasonbly priced place to look. Any suggestions? I'm looking for a Mk3 MX-5 undertray. This is supposed to be inexpensive and I can fit it myself. Read more
Thank you all. Mazda dealership have quoted me £100 if they didn't know my reg plate number and £91 when I told them my reg plate.....bit weird but I guess there's different charges for the varying models of MX5.

Just out of curiosity what sort of profit margin will a main dealer typically price over trade price. My own view is that it would approximate to around 10-15% of sticker price. I am curretly looking to buy a Toyota Auris Hybrid, and prices vary amongst dealers quite a lot. What sort of experience do peole have of negotiation and price reductions acheived?

When working with new cars it varied from cash incentives for certain models and specs to volume with other models and specs.
The volume bonuses where very lucrative, epsecially when hyundai was still the cheap budget vehicle from the far east....

At least this one is a change from the Fiesta!...
I recently have had an accident in my 2001 BMW 5 Series. Car has shattered headlamp, bonnet slighly bent and scuffed/scratched, wing slightly bent and scuffed/scratched and scuffed bumper. Car is only worth around £1,250 as a trade in on Parkers and I think it will probably be written off.. I had in fact alrady ordered a new car (Vauxhall Mokka due in mid October). I will however be without a car and I drive 35 miles each way to work and back. I am not really enthused about trying to buy the car back from the insurer as when my new car arrives it will be virtually unsaleable and I will have to find a means of getting rid of it.
I am not sure what to do next. Should I buy a banger? rent a car (you can monthly rentals where I am for £13 per day)?... Read more
The insurers have picked their own repairer and I get a courtesy car for the period of repair. I also have Excess insurance and will recover that.
Yes it was an accounting decision not particularly a green one (although the two go together now). I am often paying about £100 per week on petrol (and this is far too much). That is not the only cost - I just had an inspection 2 service (£450 at an independent garage) and road tax is £280 and insurance obviously at Group 34 is high. So servicing for the Mokka will be cheaper, road tax will be cheaper and I will be paying for group 12 insurance....
l went to change the wiper blades on my sons Golf & measured the driver side, which was 20" The nearside (passenger) is 18" Is this correct? Or should they both be 20"/18"?

Hi, I have exactly-ish the same problem. two weeks ago, I had pin 21 fixed and new earth wire installed after many many immobiliser problems, but today driving along the instruments died the ABS and Alarm set came on and I thought oh no, not again. But I bashed hard on the top of the dash and the instruments came up, the ABS light went out but the alarm set remained on. I did not turn off the engine and just left it running while I left the car and eventually got back home, alarm set light remained on throughout. I turned off the motor and tried to restart it. To my surprise it did start and the Alarm set light was not showing. Now I don't know if I have a problem or not!. I'm sure to find out in next few days... My Voyager is a 1998 SE right hand drive petrol 3.3L in New Zealand. Does anyone think it is a good idea if I import a BCM and/or a PCM from USA? I heard was about $2000. Support of old Voyagers here is nonexistent and very few in wrecker yards. I only managed to get it running again by taking pin 21 forum discussion to an auto electrician and getting him to do it..
Hi All
During the period while my loved 504 cab was repaired after a lady could not find enough space in 7m to reverse and damaged the door, I was given to drive a Nissan Micra 2013 auto. I have not driven any new cars for a long time, specially an automatic. ... Read more
Both the Toyota/Lexus and Honda ones will drive the wheels directly from the engine with no intervening bits.
Yes, but the charge in the battery ultimately comes from the fuel in the tank via the engine. Some people go to great lengths to try to extend the EV range-which is silly. Sure it feels virtuous cruising round with the engine off, but you're still using fuel albeit indirectly....

Legally you are stuffed, you can't sign for what you have not read or written. No doubt it happens all the time but if things go wrong you don't have a leg to stand on.
