Three years ago I started getting oil smells in the car and a small oil leak on the drive. The main dealer where I bought the car diagnosed a leaking vacuum pump, which is apparently part of the fuel system and is located at the back of the engine.
Since there is an integral gasket the whole pump had to be replaced, at a cost of several hundred pounds. The car was 6 years old.... Read more
The driver's door key is trapped into the lock and does not come out. Fortunately I could open the car using the plastic spare key on the trunck door. The situation now is that the drivers door opens and close, the car runs using the plastic key, but the main key remains trapped into the door.
How can I take the whole lock off the door and then take the key of?... Read more
i own a 2001 peugeot 206 1.4i , i was driving it along the road all fine then the eml ( engine managment light ) came on and the car was also running a bit rough , so i did the wise one to make sure that what i thought was wrong with the was right and called the rac , the rac arrived ask what went wrong so i told the mechanic so then he went to his van and brought out a brand new ignition coil pack and swapped mine for the new one , but the car still running rough and the eml was still flashing so the rac man ran a diagnotic test and the test turned up with a problem which i thought , the injectors , so i drove home stripped out the injectors refurbed them by cleaning them with petrol toothbrush and a needle ialso used a woman's emery board to sand the wire conection's on the back of the injectors and replaced all the rubber gromets due to 2 of them being perished and one being split , i then rebuilt the injector rail and refitted it to the car started the car and the car was running sweet but now the eml was on constant so i purchsed my own dianostic machine switched off the eml ran a dianostic test and everything is now really sweet and no more problems . i thought i would share this for anyone that has a pug 206 . Good day all,
For the past year my corsa has hesitated under acceleration from roughly 1500-1800 rpm. There ways always a slight shudder before the turbo cut in and it started to pull. Reading the relevant forums this seemed to be a common issue and various cures were proposed normally revolving around the egr valve.
I noticed of recent that there seemed to be more diesel noise than there used to be. My local garage suggested I should change the fuel filter to start with. This was done and it has transformed the car. The hesitation has gone and it drives much better.
Whether this works for everyone I don't know but hopefully any other corsa users suffering from this find this useful. Read more

Have you looked at Pepipoo, as advised above? I suggest you ask for help there.
However, a couple of observations. Firstly, regarding late appeals: "If your appeal is late, it cannot normally be considered. If you do send it late you must explain fully and clearly on the appeal form itself why it is late. The Assessor will then decide whether the appeal can be considered but this is likely to happen only in very limited circumstances." (from the POPLA website)...
As the owner of an old Vauxhall Astra 1.7 dti, I have been aware for a while that simple remaps are available that give a lot more power with only a small loss of economy.
£200 though and it's not my car, it's my ex's. So with that in mind, about £3 seems the order of things.
Has anybody had a succesful DIY result? I am proficient in OPCOM. Read more

Depends mainly on how and where you drive, £10.00 worth is only about a gallon and a half so that's getting on for 50mpg which sounds about right - assuming its manual.
I've just read that mazda with their new 3, have a 2 litre, relatively low powered (114 bhp) motor as their cooking engine. This seems to be at odds with the small sized turbo's that just about everyone else seems to be going for.
Mazda say that the stated mpg (54), will be achievable in normal driving. I know that people keep complaining that the ford ecoboost and fiat twinair etc. give nothing like good economy when driven normally.... Read more
"If I was going to buy an Auris estate then i personally would plump for the 1.8 VVTi NA petrol as fitted to Avensis..."
Agree absolutely - the frustrating thing is that the 1.8 fits perfectly. We hired a 1.8 Corolla (same as Auris but with the old, better name) in New Zealand a few years ago and it went very well. It may be the same engine as in the hybrid - in which case all they have to do if offer it with the option of a manual gearbox without the hybrid tech....

Open the door.On the door frame,in line with the handle, should be a single screw (torx or star drive).Remove this screw and the complete handle with lock can be lifted out of the door.It is not necessary to remove the door card.hth
