Hi
I have just bought a second hand car and so cancelled the insurance on my old car and used no claims etc on the new one. I need to sell my old car and thought, incorrectly, that as I am insured to drive other cars (third party basis) via my main insurance, I could use this to do test drives for my old one. I checked the gov website and realise that, unless a car is permanently off the road, it has to be insured. I have just been looking at temporary insurance i.e for a couple of weeks whilst I try and sell the car but realise that it is almost as expensive as a policy for a whole year,. I can't imagine I am the only one who has this sort of problem and feel like I may be making this more complicated than needed.... Read more
Just changed my vehicle to a Nissan QQ (petrol - dpf frightened me off diesel) Lo and behold on checking for the spare what do I find?. No wheel, no space saver just a can of goo and a mini compressor to deal with a flat.... Read more
How disappointing Bromp, thats part of the problem of modern times, young lads not taught by their parents elders and masters in the fine art of being a gentlemen, and look at the result, a fair maiden left stranded, that simply will not do.
Even in Tesco it is quite likely that you will be unable to loosen the wheel nuts/bolts with the device provided. Whenever my wheels have been moved I retighten them myself to have a better chance at the roadside if necessary.
Motoring magazine testers always seem to prefer the "quality" of some cars interiors to others.
They seem obsessed with soft touch plastics and shiney chrome trim things, rather than whether the switches will continue to work for years and the dash will remain rattle free.... Read more
One aspect of the reliability statistics, and other tabls, is that the difference between a top place and an also ran is usually only a few percentage points, e.g. 93% versus 89%. For many, that 4 in a hundred is insignificant compared to finding a car which fits their self-image, is local, is physically appropriate etc.

My temperature gauge goes up - as soon as it gets to the last white mark before the red - the temp light and stop sign comes on and it beeps at me. Temp keeps going up into the red. But if you keep driving and ignore it after a few seconds all warnings stop and temp starts dropping until it goes back to normal of 90.

might be worth giving the cooling system a thorough flush and refill with fresh coolant in case there's a partial blockage somewhere or an air lock.

Yes it was the 2.0 twin cam, I remember it fondly, also the Primera it was in, it handled like a racing car (to me) used to make 04:30 drive to work a pleasure-almost.
Well I really thought I'd found the source of the rattling but it's still happening. All the plastic air inlet stuff is nicely secured now so i can forget that. Nor is it brake pads as the noise still continues when braking.
The rattling starts up after I've done about twenty miles on the nearside. If was anything to do with the suspension surely the rattling would happen straight away not wait twenty miles and then start. So I'm thinking driveshaft, yet it's not making the familiar clicking sound on tight turns. Then if it's not that, then possibly coming from the gearbox. After the oil has heated and become thinner, whatever is loose in the box would be likely to show up more, I guess. This chattering rattle happens at all speeds whether in or out of gear. Negotiating a bump the rattling increases slighty and when that happens my thoughts swing back to it being a suspension problem. It sounds like a loose bolt dangling down and flapping about, but loose bolts don't wait twenty odd miles to make a noise. Read more
No exhaust wasn't checked when hot and the noise occuring, I will check that. In or out of gear it happens, pulling or deaccelerating makes no difference. It chatters a bit more when going over a bit of rough road. I'm thinking cv joint, the only thing with that is that it doesn't make the familiar clicking when turning a tight lock. If it's mountings I don't know how to test that

The wiring for the boot lock release and the hrw both run through the rubber tube between the body and tailgate. It is very possible that the wiring has broken/fractured.hth
Now, i know that personally, i am on my 4th chevrolet, and all things considered, the current cruze does the job ok, but Shocked to learn today from my friendly local dealer that all new chevrolets will have 3 year warranty, not 5.

Chevrolet/Daewoo suffering the same lack of kudos that once applied to Skoda by the sounds of it, and no doubt still would if much wasn't made of the untouchable VAG parts bin.
I'd gladly have a Cruze/Aveo/Lacetti/Epica if i wanted a standard good value car roomy for its size, Lacetti estate particularly a very useful car and nice to drive in auto form especially, whats basically wrong with any of these if bought sensibly....not look right on the drive or in the work car park or is the TG mobs opinion actually taken seriously somewhere, dear me get a grip....
