Hi,

My wife had a Citreon Xsara 1.4 LX that has a quirky issue with the central locking. Sometimes the car will lock fine on the remote, other times it unlocks itself straight away.... Read more

The car may be unlocking itself because it thinks that one of the doors isn't shut properly - just double check and ensure that they are shut properly. The system may sense this from the interior light switches or switches inside the door locking latches, so check these as well.

It could even be a faulty locking motor or a stiff locking mechanism.

Hi,

I noticed a few months ago that my speedo stopped working. The car drove fine, no loss of power or engine cutting out, it was literally just the speedo and the mileometere.... Read more

Does the car have a lead acid battery or calcium battery fitted ?
It should be a calcium battery.

Speedos can do crazy things with a lead acid battery fitted.

HJ did a really positive write up of this great all round SUV

Unfortunately all the major mags just don't bother to compare it with the bigger punching manufacturers such as Mazda Nissan and Honda.

It has many great features but the most important for many must be that it is narrower and a proper in town car as well as being very capable off road.

I think motoring journalists are too fond of the big names.

Yeah any option would be better than the Nothing option they currently offer.

The pano roof in other ASX's in other counties retracts BTW...

I am sure I posted this earlier but as it was not really car specific maybe it needed that info to appear.

Small scratch on plastic sill under door needs touching up. Not really noticable but on wife's car and I expect she will find it soon!... Read more

Wonderful programme - a real gem. Can't say it will make me rush out & buy a Hyundai, but certainly had earned my respect as a company.

Well done Mr Pope. Nice to see the changes made where it counts. Made a lot of positive changes to staff working conditions. Nice to see someone from the top leave the office and experience the real word at ground level. Can only make everyone happier staff and customers!

What is it with some people.

It's one of the hottest days of 2013 we've a lot of windows open this evening and slight breeze. Yet someone around here has decided to have a bonfire. The smell has permeated around the house and we've had to close the windows. What a ****. I hope he has the taste of his own medicine while he tries to get to sleep.... Read more

You want to watch that car excrement. It can make a real mess. We only get the odd drip from ours...

Today's award goes to the woman who overtook me, while texting, on the A14 this morning. She was very open about it in her top down A4 cabrio, registration mumber G*A*T. Asterixes have been included incase I am not supposed to divulge the registraion number.

Sight of last week on the A14 was a McLaren P1. Read more

< When cycles arrived on roads there weren't separate cycle ways etc. especially for them. >

At that time there were no 'separate ways' for anyone, except maybe what we would now call pavements for pedestrians, in towns. Those 'separate' pavements have now been invaded by parked cars and sometimes fast-moving cyclists. That is gradually becoming 'tolerated' as fewer people go about on foot....

I'm in a bit of a pickle here in deciding what car I should get next. And as you could probably tell it's between the 118d and the Golf 140 Diesel.
So what I'm hoping for is for people to tell me what your experiences/opions are of each car. Any issues that you've encountered with them or are aware of.

I'm going to test drive them both in the weekday of next week to see what I think of the drive.

Both cars are Diesel, have less than or equal 40k miles and are 57 plates.

And I have already looked at the section of this site that has the pros and cons. Read more

Spam duly ditched. I noticed earlier today that he was pushing the same website on another forum which some of us post on. Their moderators may have discovered it by now.
