we were driving down motorway when red flashing oil light appeared (probably should of stopped straight away) anyway was trying to get to service station wife two kids in car got up slip road around roundabout then car died. AA would not look at it because of red light policy had it towed home, I s diagnostic check going to tell me anything my feeling is i might have a broken cam belt as it was overdue a change, My dilema now is after reading a fair bit about this sought of problem instead of throwing money at this problem do i jusyt bite the bullet and put a new engine in from a write off Audi, Have been quoted £1900 for 2009 engine 30k miles supply and fit with a warranty?... There seems to be a sudden obsession locally to drive with either side or dipped headlights switched on .
Once a speciality of Swedish cars it now seems to being used on everything from ford to vw .why ?
In poor daylight conditions its a useful safety device ,but in the bright summer light what's the point ? Has there been a change in the law .
Personally I find it irritating especially with the very bright xenon lights .

Hi my mondeo isn't giving out any power I've cleaned out the egr valve which a friend suggested but still no go. I've heard there is a standered blow of valve but I cannot locate it to clean it out.
Would it be that and where is it???

Does she really need a diesel? Does she have a commute of over 15 miles each way or travel around the country most days? If not, stick with petrol.
The 1.6D pulls well, is fairly smooth and can return good economy figures....
For many years fresh coolant always seemed to be royal blue. Recently all the coolant I have noticed - including the bulk supply my indy uses - is orange. Unipart's ordinary stuff (and possibly others too) is green. You'd know if it was that though, it's a really garish bright green colour.
Shows up leaks a treat, which is presumably the purpose.

Thanks for that Elek. If it's an LED then the chances of failure compared to that of a filament bulb is extremely low. Might be worth the OP checking connections and looking for chaffed wires before going to the trouble of all that disassembly.

I don't know, but it may well be that the AA won't let a car be driven anywhere with a red warning light showing - otherwise if any further damage were done the customer would jump on the legal bandwagon and try for a free repair by suing the AA, saying it was their fault.
