Your next Mot will show the recorded milages from the previous MoTs.

I doubt there will be a problem. One of my present cars failed MoT a few years ago at 66K miles and then passed a retest at 55K miles. Just a clerical error at the garage, apparently recorded without comment by the system.

HI i bought a mondeo 2 weeks ago and first off when drove in the rain i could hear the road noise (rain on road) from the passenger side of the car, so i noticed the passenger doors was slightly out of line, got that sorted, today i pulled the carpet up on that side a bit to have a nose, no idea what i am looking for but thought id look ;) as soon as i pulled carpet up a plug come up too so not sure if that was maybe loose or off before i pulled carpet up i am not sure, i also felt that sponge like material near front of footwell and that was wet, so i dont know where to start to find out what is happening, not sure if it would be from that drain hole in the floor, ps what the hell is that, i hope its meant to have a hole in the floor :P or whether from the front end of the car, i noticed the cowl bit if that is what it is called wasnt sealed to the windscreen on the passenger side but garage said that wont cause no problems the driver side is attached to windscreen but passenger isnt, can anyone help at all Read more

I tow a caravan and found the auxilary plug and socket had melted, so I replaced them. There does not appear to be any power to the socket so I think a fuse will have blown. Can anyone tell me ? is there an inline fuse - if so where or is it fused from the fuse boards in the car - inside the engine compt or in the glove box. If so what number of fuse should I check. Hi, l have a Mercedes E200 Classic, 2ltr, Auto, Estate, when driving the car some times it changes gear faultless and other times it sticks between 3rd and 4th gear, if l go over a pothole or put my foot down it will change gear and proceed through the gears as normal.

Or this may happen between 4th and 5th gear, l had it diagnosticly checked by Mercedes who told me there was no fault codes comming up anywhere on the car or the gearbox, they said because there was no codes that l should just live with it, it can't be fixed without a fault code, they said, l would really like some help from someone who has had this fault and diagnosed it, Thank you,,,,PS l have also had it in to several gearbox specialists who have also come to the same conclusion as Mercedes Main dealers... First thing to do is check the ATF level. Then change the ATF for fresh. If an ATF change improves matters, change it again after a week or so because you cannot completely drain a torque convertor (I'm assuming this is a slush 'box?)

Can anyone help, I have the listed car and the revs keep jumping up to about 1000, feels like the auto choke is kicking in but the car is warm! I've had a diagnostic completed and it has no faults. Anyone had this issue or able to shed some light? Thanks in advance Read more

when doing the pump timing does it make a difference if the woodruff key is pointing up or down and would this make a difference anyway? the pump pulley has 2 holes in which would both line up with timing hole.... Read more

Don't know this engine but if its a common rail the pump is not timed, its just a constant high prssure pump, if its not I have no idea what pump it uses.

My Santa Fe has 20000 miles and the last two oil changes at Walmart indicates one qt low on pre check. I don't drive it very much due to disability, but when I do I drive long enough on hwy to get it to proper temp. I don't have a leak so where is the oil going? At this mileage it sure shouldn't be using oil. This happened on the last two all others show full on pre check, or is Walmart full of it? Thank you. It is a 2007 6cyl Read more

On returning a hire car to the depot, driving along a motorway, a huge lump of metal fell off the back of a lorry, creating a small dent in the front bumper and pushing the plastic grill through. Returning to the depot, I pointed out the damage to the attendant. Less than an hour later I received an invoice for £500, £200 more than my excess!

Is there any way of getting round this? Or reducing the amount to be paid? I didn't think quick enough at the time to take the lorrys regsitration. Has this ever happened to anyone? Read more

I remember about 10 years ago in Spain, we hired a Pug 106 for €18 Euros a day, but had to give a €50 deposit. They just said the car is on the next street. We found it and used it and returned it and gave them the keys expecting them to check it over and they just thanked us returned the balance of the deposit and said bye. They didn't even ask where it was as parked!

I was wondering if some of you might be able to help.

I was looking through car insurance for my mother and noticed that the legal cover costs between £25 to £40. Is it really worth having it, I recall reading from on MoneySavingExpert that ideally its better to go for a cover that costs £10-£20. ... Read more

The legal protection is usually handled by a 3rd party even if you pay your main insurer - it's valuable cover but only at the cheaper prices. Your passengers are claiming off your insurance for personal injury unless it's agreed by another driver's insurer to be no-fault - this can give a conflict of interest, hence the use of a 3rd party.

Breakdown cover isn't all the same, by a long way - don't just buy on price - work out what cover you need and check the small print....
