Just to update you guys: i have sold this car a few months back and got a new Ford.
The culprit is the FIP overhauling guy; spurious parts used and that knackered the engine. Love this car still though. No-nonsense workhorse of an engine....

I've just had to replace two good tyres on my Vectra and was then charged £79 for the tracking (which I was told to have checked every few months because the Vectra is more liable for the tracking to be put out if you hit potholes in the road etc).
This Vectra always seems to have something needing to be done to it & I've nearly spent as much in repairs as it cost me to buy two years ago. This latest bill with the tyres has got to me - (I've never had tracking prooving so sensistive in my other cars) and I want to sell it. ... Read more

OK, so i had a small collision with someone the other day (saturday 15th June). I went into the back of her, if smashed my headlight and there was no damage to her vechicle. She requested that nothing was done through insurance, which i said was fine and that i would cover the damage done to my car.
Now i have received contact from my insurance (aviva) about an 'alledged road traffic accident'.... Read more
It is not your role to deal with the other party's claims. You are not being sued and you are not likely to be.
Leave it to your insurance company.

I have driven a civic with the I-CDTI and a golf with the CR 2.0 TDI.
I preferred the honda engine but simply because I am used to petrols and the honda diesel was more 'rev happy'....
I have a 58 plate mondeo titanium 2 litre petrol. Had car about 6 months and battery died on me. Changed battery, all good. About 3 months later car died again and breakdown couldn't start it battery was so dead.
Since then it has failed on me half a dozen times. The last time I did a 100 mile run on a thu, drove it short distance to work and back on fri, by 10am sat morning it was dead.
Ford and local auto electrician say intermittent drain isn't happening when they have car and say cant find anything wrong. Just let my local guy have car for a week and guess what, the b***** thing didn't drain!
I am at a loss. Ford updated all software and did some technical service bulletin on intermittent drain on instrument cluster. That didn't work. Got an earth strap fitted as one guy said it could be an earth issue. That didn't work.
Car has full ford service history and is a beauty of a car... When it works!
What do I do? Do I get a more powerful battery? Anyone have any ideas? Losing hair as a result!
Thanks in advance. Read more
Can anyone help? Please reply if so. Problem getting worse! Thanks.

Its hardly a name and shame issue, you know very well before you undertake such modifications that mainstream insurers are going to be unimpressed. They know whats a good risk and what isn't, modified cars and their owners probably feature highly in claims hence their reluctance.
I suggest trying an old fashioned insurance broker who will know which companies are prepared to quote, i suspect you will end up with inferior insurance but thats part and parcel of tinkering with cars....
