Just in case any non-French speaker is bemused by this, Bromp is referring to signs which prevent (or allow) the use of foreign (non-French) credit/debit cards....
Hi everyone,
Any advice much appreciated as I need to get back to my boss today. I've been offered a BlueMotion golf as my company car and while I understand the MPG is fantastic, performance wise it's not even as fast as my current 53 plate Audi A3 2.0 petrol - and that's saying something.... Read more

Last January I brought a second hand car from a private garage for 2200, the car came with 3000 miles warranty. However, within the first week my car was already back in the garage! My car wouldn't start and the immobiliser symbol kept coming up. After about a week the garage said they had fixed it however, within another week it was back in the garage again with the same problem. It took the garage 3 months to figure out the problem, in which they had to send my ecu unit to fiat and get a replacement (so they said)!
From June last year the car has worked fine and evidently my warranty has run out. However, yesterday the same problem that occurred! The stupid immobiliser sign is back and I can't start my car. I can't believe that it has happened again.
The garage gave me no paperwork last year regarding putting in a new ecu unit. Where do I stand with regard to the work they done? Surely the car which I have only had for just over a year was not fit for purpose when they sold it to me?

>> I don't think it would need to be re-connected to get through the MoT, would it?
Can't see why, there's been a lot of chat about what's now required for an MOT, but I've yet to see "must have an immobiliser" mentioned anywhere....

The Op might find this link intersting. It dates back to 2004 but it has some pointers re cloned cars, especially one as distinctive as a Lambo (if still in the UK). www.popcenter.org/library/awards/tilley/2004/04-47...f
The point is that criminals tend not to register anew, but run around uninsured and care free re traffic laws. Snail trail of speeding fines results. Assuming the OP has not been pestered on tis - it possibly means the car is over the seas now:( ...
