Hi there
from what you have said about the car running on after switching off i would say 99.9% its the fuel pressure regulator sticking on the back of the pump , its availble seperately and i would change the fuel filter element too at the same time , its usually caused by dirt in them , i have modified them by removing fine gauze on the end of regulator with good results...
i have read that you can replace 2 no timing chain tensioners as should be done at 75k.1 at top front and 1 behind the front offside wheel. if this so will i hit any problems. i have a rattle when cold start which lasts for a couple if mins sometimes. if anyone could help please !!! Read more
Listen for timing chain rattles (see above). If the engine oil is less than perfectly clean, the oil feed to the timing chain tensioners can block leading to noise when the engine is first started each day. Eventually the tensioners break and replacement is a £2,000 engine out job

Dad is a fit, healthly and very active 79 year old with a long history of driving decent cars and driving well. Before his recent car he drove a Subaru Forester Turbo which was a lovely car and he only changed becuase my recently deceased mother found it hard to get into and out of. He bought a new Daihatsu Sirion which is now three years old.
He likes the Sirion as it is very easy to drive, extremely reliable and in essence the perfect car for him. However he has a hankering to go back to the days when he drove cars with loads of toys and like the Forester, were a little bit higher, and good to drive.... Read more
I drove a Fiat 500 last week for a few miles. A basic 1.2 petrol I think. I found it rather dull and the steering wheel was too large. A disappointment considering I was looking forward to driving it. Not sure if the trekking version will do it for Dad.
I drive a company car and my wife drives her own car which is insured in her name and has been for several years.
In the past few days I have taken a courtesy call from my wife's car insurance company asking to speak to her when she was out plus an unsolicited e-mail. When I took the first call, I asked what was the reason for the call to be told it was a courtesy call (call me cynical but there is no such thing as a courtesy call.)... Read more
Apparently, Woody Allen said "There are worse things in life than death. Have you ever spent an evening with an insurance salesman?"
Now I know this alarmist story may be untrue as an Honest John search has not found it.
But a chap in our walking group has had his Honda broken into and the airbags and seatbelts were stolen in a 10 minute period. He's ended up with a £5000 insurance claim and a lengthy wait for the expensive parts to come from Japan.... Read more
You'd be amazed how fast you can remove bits from a car when:

Hi, I just recently bought a Honda Accord 2005. I am very pleased with the car as it has full Honda history and one owner from new. My question is apart from Honda dealers themselves, can anyone recomend a Honda specialist garage in and and around Birmingham which they had good experience with. I like to keep the car in top spec as it is now and will go to a dealer if need to for service but was wondering if there is cheaper but also very good alternative.
Thank you Read more

The way I generally remove them is by welding a nut on the end, if you can get to it. Even if its broken off flush you can weld down the middle of the nut.
