Turbo actuator has failed putting car in limp home mode. MB insist actuator not available separately and want to sell/replace the whole turbo unit. Car is w203 (2006) with 112k miles and has been excellent prior to this failure. Any advice on where to source actuator or whether my best/only option is to replace whole turbo as per MB much appreciated.

2005 2.5 vauxhall movano cutting out it seems to be a common problem from what i read on hear ..I got some very useful information off hear so i thought it only fair to do this post.As many others have had my movano keeps cutting out ignition off and on and its ok again maybe for another 100 miles maybe for another 100 yards who knows. It seems alot have gone down the fuel problem route i was quite shore it was electrical I took it to my local auto electrician who said it was related to the fuel pressure sensor but maybe not the sensor its self he advised it might be a wiring loom problem i contacted my local vauxhall dealer (wjkings very helpful) who said there was a known problem with the wiring on the fuel pressure sensor so they do a kit to replace the wiring £80 plus the vat
Mine is on order so watch this space if it solves it i will post the part number that is if i can stop jumping up and down with joy for long enough Read more

In the HJ column, the Telegraph On-Line today, there is the sad story of a member who's wife's car has got four buckled wheel rims. The damage was put down to sleeping policemen and potholes. A garage manager said that if they replaced the rims then it might happen again within a couple of hours.
Could the threat of such damage be reduced by slowing down for the road humps and steering around the potholes ? I've seen so many drivers go over them as though they were not there. Read more
Interesting. There's a road near me in a 30mph that's riddled with massive potholes, that I traverse at 15mph like a trial rider, while keeping a careful view in the mirror for t***s in BMWs bearing down on me.
Now, most females have been taught to do 30mph where the sign says 30mph, and drive in a straight line....
I've recently had error lights come up on my Audi.

The exhaust gas temp sensor measures the heat in the exhaust, bank 1 is before the DPF and bank 2 is after. They are not lambda probes

Have been considering a Duster for the OH but have seen reports of rust, water ingress and fuel gauge problems on early UK Dusters, has anyone had any experiance in owning a Duster abroad, does this just apply to UK models?
Maybe at the price it could be considered white goods, but even at £9k one would expect it to last a while. Read more
It would be fantastic if they could bring the Lodgy to the UK, once the zafira goes there will no longer be a cheap 7 seater on the market.

I have a 2006 Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCI Titanium X. The car has developed some problems recently and looks to be getting worse.
The car starts and runs okay but has no power when accelerating. It emits a black smoke. The car can only give 29MPG. ... Read more
Sounds similar to a previous Mondeo TDCI i had a few years back. I had a new EGR valve fitted and this restored the power and eliminated the excessive black smoke.
My Dad's 2013 Skoda Fabia needs a new clutch after only 700miles and Skoda dealer says it is wear and tear so not covered by warranty , is it possible to burn out a clutch in just 700miles no matter how bad the driver though my Dad does not ride his clutch and does mostly motorway driving so not much gear changing Read more
Well, you are going to need the clutch replaced anyway so when you do ask to look at the old parts. If the friction material is worn out.....then your dad has done it. It's easily doable especially if the person has bad hearing, because modern engines are quiet they can't hear how high they rev the engine whilst slipping the clutch, if he rests his foot on the clutch whilst driving that will add to the problem.. We sold a toyota Yaris to a dear old boy who was as deaf as a post, he burnt the clutch out in 500 yards ( 7000 rpm clutch slip out the forecourt and down the road to the level crossing waiting for a train).

These leak oil out of the cylinder head bolts, apparently. My Niece has a Renault Megane and her car has experienced this problem.
Try Googling "Renault Megane Oil Leaks", or something similar....

Refer the dealer who is refusing the warranty claim to the owner's handbook. If it does not specifically mention that the type of usage is liable to cause a problem, or is not recommended and details the consequences then the dealer has no option but to repair the defects under warranty-it's that simple. Dealers and/or manufacturers cannot come along after the event of selling a vehicle and add weasel clauses to avoid their liability when something goes wrong-unless the driver was officially told about it via some sort of a bulletin or letter.
I wrote a couple of the chapters of that well known book" How to avoid paying out on warranty claims" during a stint as a warranty claim inspector for a major manufacturer many years ago.
