In HJ's column on Saturday it was mentioned that Honda is considering pulling the Accord from their range due to lack of sales. If so this would be a pity. From 1986 to 1992 I had three Accords in a row, as company cars. The first was the original 1.8, then a 2.0 12 valve then a 2.0i 16 valve, they were C , E and H registered plates and all petrol. Each one an improvement on the previous model and all a real pleasure to drive with trouble free high mileage motoring. I actually bought the H reg and my wife ran it until 2006 when we gave it away; it could still be running! Then our company went exclusively to diesel and Honda were out of the frame for a long time. By the time they developed a decent diesel engine, the cars were very expensive and the fleet buyers were not keen. I think this may point to the possible demise of the Accord, the price. They do seem rather expensive for what they are. Would it not be sensible for Honda to simply reduced the price and probably sell more? Comments please. Regards Concrete Read more

You mean - we don't get any sun to cause reflection, of course!

have just come across this forum seems like alot of people have a good understanding of cars . I have recently come across xxxx; they offer vehicle diagnostics and give proof that the car is healthy . and claim this will benefit the sale of vehicles. what do you guys think about this ? do you think i should invest money and do this or does it just seem a waste of time ?

My S-Max (diesel auto) has averaged 33.4mpg since the day it arrived with 11,000 miles on about three years and 29,000 miles ago. I reset the trip computer when it arrived and after a week or so, it settled down to 33.4mpg and has not moved from that unless I have done a very long day of motorway driving which has pushed the average up by a couple of notches, only for it to drop again within a couple of days of regular urban use.
Just noticed that the economy has dropeed to 33.3. Nothing huge of course, but unless there is something wring with the car, I assume this is the affect of a sustained period of cold weather?... Read more
is this a wind up or what
"happy blue",,"something wring",,,,"33.4mpg to 33.3mpg"...
At work we have a couple of these Navara 4x4 2.5 TD pick-ups, the one I have has around 160,000kms on the clock and runs on the standard spec. 205/Rx16 tyres as from the factory.
The second identical Nissan has 380,000kms (engine is still good!) and the driver has changed the wheels a few years ago to 235/70x16 tyres and they're not chunky off-road type as you would expect, more like a normal road vehicle - for a number of reasons, mainly because when he pranged it it was easier and cheaper to find those rims.... Yes, I see what you're saying but the thing is I drive the "other one" since 2001 and put the 160,000kms on the clock in the same countryside/town so pretty familiar with how they stop....otherwise I would have put it down to driver trouble

hi all.I have bought a 2001 BMW 320d.i am having some performance problems.the turbo does not boost at all before 4000/rpm and when it does boost it does not boost the way it should.i have a feeling it could be the mass airflow sensor. The car also give of a lot of black smoke as i accelirate.could the turbo be faulty or the sensor? Read more
Could there be a boost leak somewhere? Could account for black smoke (insufficient air / excess fuel) and lack of power? Would usually be accompanied by a hissing sound of pressurised air escaping.
Check all the pressure pipework between the turbo compressor and inlet for oily spatter marks....
hi ,ive had a problem a couple of months ago with the acelerator pedal the,rac man said it looks like the pedal was faulty ,as it didnt rev up .we put a second hand pedal on and it worked fine .then the problem came back again .so change the pedal again .it was fine for a few days now it goes in to limp mode .if i take the earth off the battery it most times will drive fine for the of the day .do the pedals need to be the same ,the second hand unit have been off the earlier 307 2.0 lt hdi.i took it to the peugeot dealer ,they told me there was too many fault codes on the ecu and it would cost more than the car is worth . ..any advise .thanks ray. Take it to a diesel specialist rather than the dealer, they usually know what they are doing and are cheaper.
Hi new to all this forum stuff
Have spent loads of time looking through posts trying to get to the bottom of my problem but not really finding the Answer so hope you dont mind me posting all the events that have lead me to where i am now.
Bought a 2001 E46 while back with swirl flap damage and managed to lay my hands on a engine that we swapped over Christmas last year
All went in well started up and has run well ever since until last Monday
Suddenly whilst driving noticed managment light was on and went into limp mode then just spluttered to a halt and has refused to start since
Had fault codes read with Snapon ethos and comes up with the same faults
P1640 Internal Control Module (ROM/RAM) Error and P3505 glow plugs i know the glow plugs are not happy and had planned to change them in the near future but car had not had any starting problems even in all the cold weather
Also i have changed
Crank sensor
cam sensor
map sensor
Air flow meter
Fuel rail pressure sensor
Low pressure pump is making 4 bar pressure according to the Snapon Ethos diagnostics but only give high pressure fuel reading as 35% now 35% of what im not sure would of been better in bar or PSI would have ment a lot more to me.
My thinking is the P1640 Internal Control Module (ROM/RAM) Error only comes up when the engine has been cranking for some time and may be coming up due to the battery voltage dropping off and the ECU saying im not happy about this glow plug error well that aint no big thing but shouldnt stop the engine from starting.
So next plan is to change high pressure pump as im fast running out of options unless anyone on here can suggest somthing to try any help would be greatly appreciated

Good result .

I very much doubt it the Accord holds its value in the first three years some percentage points better then the BMW 5 series across the board petrol and diesel in fact the depreciation on big BMWs in a year would buy an Accord.
