I wouldn't worry about it, your car passed it's MOT. Its just an administrative short cut.

I’m new here, so first of all hello! I have a problem with my N reg MK3 1.3 Fiesta. It has started having trouble getting up hills. An incline I could do at 30mph in second last week I can barely get up to 20mph now. It’s fine on a flat road and I got it up to 70mph on the dual carriageway without major issues, it did take a bit longer than normal to get there though. It makes an unusual noise in second, third and fourth when I get to the point where I need to change gear, like it’s straining, kind of a ‘race car’ noise. It settles in the higher gear, but then does it again as speed increases. No problems pulling away etc. The garage reckoned it was the idle air valve. I have replaced that with a second hand one, this hasn’t improved the uphill or noise issue, but it has stopped the stuttering it was doing. I’m reluctant to take it back to the garage just yet as they had quoted me one and a half hours labour for the above job, when it took me less than half an hour… Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Thanks for the replies! It's going back to the garage. It turns out that the mechanic who diagnosed the faulty valve wasn't told about the power issue by the boss, just about high revs....after I spoke to him earlier he thinks exhaust too. Got to be impressed by the communications there... I'll report back on the outcome.

Please help if you can. I have only liability insurance. No comprehension. Just California State required insurance. Got into a fender bender which I am adamant that I am not at fault. I have written to them and asked that they deny the other parties bodily injury and vehicle damage claim. Other party has attorney and claims to have witness to accident. Other party is lying but my insurance co. has indirectly informed me that it looks like the accident may have happened the way the other party’s attorney claims it happened. My insurance co. states that they are seeking 50/50 resolution and have asked if I am o.k. with that. They informed me verbally that this means that both parties will accept half and half liability. I've been told that the other party will pay for my vehicle damages and my insurance company will pay for the other party’s damages. Is this true? Or does this mean that I must pay out of my pocket for my own damages and the other party must pay out of their pocket for their damages? Can anyone clarify this?

This is a UK based website and the UK interpretation of 50/50 may well not be the same as in California. Suggest you ask the question nearer home to be certain.

A Google search would suggest the 50/50 in th UK indeed is not quite what you have been told. Plenty of returns when I searched "50/50 settlement insurance".

I have the chance to buy an 09 diesel Yaris from family member at a good price - £5,500 - the six gear version which I'm told has high spec and covered 39k. I currently drive venerable 02 Skoda fabia SDI which is a rock solid non-turbo diesel. The Skoda has given no problem but covered 160k so will need replacing in next couple of years. I had no plans to sell the Skoda and assumed I'd only get few hundred pounds given mileage. Does anyone have direct experience of the diesel yaris? If so is it worth snapping up and sacrificing the Skoda? I've read mixed comments on the fuel economy of the yaris and equally on the wisdom of investing in modern small diesels. I cover around 20k year, motorway and town driving. Any opinions much appreciated. Read more

My 10 year old Yaris diesel has had no major faults since I bought it 7.5 years ago.

In January my wife driving home in the dark hit a massive pothole and bent a lower arm, burst a tyre and squared a wheel.
We took photos of pothole and damage to car and submitted claim form from council .
Just had the claim rejected on the basis that's they check the roads once a month as per the governments policy ! And the road had been checked two weeks previous !

I actually have the incident caught on incar camera and the car literally jumped in the air and the g force sensor went off the scale ! I haven't sent the video to the council, keeping that for rainy day.

Anyone else had similar issue with council claims ? Read more

I see in the HJ write up on the B-Max there appears to be a couple of reported problems. Are there any owners on here who can confirm any widespread problems with their cars. As I am considering changing the wifes Fiesta for one. (See I'm not a snob!) Read more
