Try UK truck forums, where truck mechanics are more likely to be found. Trucknet UK is one, Facebook truck groups exist too apparently though i have nothing to do with that place.
Just like to mention this to everyone, there are many brokers out there who mention they can get you an amazing deal, and some are true to their word, but why pay them £500 to make a couple of phonecalls/emails on your behalf, when you can do it all yourself, just like we did.
My girlfriend emailed nearly 100 car dealers and enquired about price of the car, we really didn't expect much of a response, but the respones was over whelming. After two days of communicating with dealers, biggest discount off RRP was £2,617. We decided to use a dealer closer to home and have a humble £2,466 discount. ... Read more

I have this lovely vision of the man down Skidpan Alley trying to get 'a moth free'. Is he trying to release the poor little insect from being trapped somewhere, or is he running around with a net hoping to capture a moth free of charge?
I'm moving back to the UK in a few weeks after living for 24 years in France. I called around a few insurers to get comparitive quotes for my short list of three new (right hand drive) cars that I'm considering buying when I return, and discovered two things:
1) Some insurers - such as AXA - wouldn't insure me at all as I'd spent too much time away from the UK (I still have a UK passport, so is that legal?) and... Read more
I am in the UK my mother is not so good but Dresden is OK thanks.
My RHD 730d 2004 E65 drivers door will no longer close. Had a non-bmw garage spend 2 hours dismantling and reassembling it. Turns out the latch inside the soft close (with comfort access) assembly is broken. They tried getting the part. But it comes as a whole new unit (door latch assembly with comfort access and soft close) of which there is only one of in the whole of the UK and its over 450 GBP. I was hoping to get a part from a scrap dealer. But they cant find one with both soft close and comfort access.
It is possible to fit a standard door latch - 51217202130 - (non electrical etc) inside the door? I don't mind losing soft close if I can save a tonne of money.
"For vehicles with Comfort access and Soft-Close-Automatic doors
S322A=Yes
S323A=Yes
06 Lock, complete, front right SCA/PA 1 01/2003 51217202120
only in conjunction with Pos. 7"
This is the part. Any idea if I can downgrade to 51217202130 instead, i.e. use the 'door complete lock with comfort access but without soft close' instead? Its less than half the cost.

Got a part from Quarry Motors in Sheffield. They were really helpful.
I see that the Back Room website team have found a way of overcoming ad-blockers as they're now appearing.
Adverts you don't want are the devil incarnate - so I''ll be off then - I'll check in a couple of weeks whether my ad-blocker has caught up with this latest intrusion. Read more
A few weeks ago I had an interview for a job with one of the companies that manages bids from sellers to place ads on web sites. Apparently it is quite lucrative, they had just moved in to a new bigger office, and were already looking for an even bigger one.
I tried my friendly van forum but nobody was available to answer this question at the mo.
I have a manual steering box in very good nick apart from leaking all its oil(whilst not in use)past the horizontal output shaft.Has ayone stripped one of these and replaced the seal in a low cost way?Some time ago I heard that there was only an overhaul kit available which cost a fortune,so wondered if anyone knows where to get the individual seal/s....I`m used to paying between two and twelve quid for seals but cannot find one for this fix....
