I recently took a fairly lengthy drive to an auto-specialist near me who had the necessary equipment to do a "road force" wheel balancing on my car.
The good news is they've improved the wheel wobble (I've two buckled wheels, but apparently that's a common issue on Fiesta alloys of this type/age).... Read more
I would suspect that one of the weights fitted is touching the caliper, take the wheel off and see if there are any shiny spots.

Any basic supermini with aircon will do. It is a tiny island.
Watch out for "pre-paid" fuel as it is quite difficult to use a tank!...
I have been having problems with fumes inside the cabin of the car for a while. It was basically so bad it was not drivable....sore eyes, dry nose and throat, dizziness and headaches. First garage changed the fuel filter and recycling valve which was clogged and stuck open. This didn't solve anything and to be fair they thought there was still an issue with fuel injectors. Tests at another garage indicated fuel injectors leaking and all 4 replaced at some cost. Car running much better and diesel issues much better. Unfortunately I am still getting a dry nose and throat.... Is this because the diesel which dripped all over the engine is still burning off as I drive and will it eventually cure itself? I have thought of changing the cabin filter as sure the work its been doing of late has rendered it useless. Any other ideas or suggestions would be gratefully received.... Engine cleaning etc. Have to say its doing my nut in....
Thanks Read more
When these injectors leak it is usually combustion gasses you can smell as they leak past the seal, the new seals should have prevented that but the smell could have impregnated the cabin filter so if it still bothers you I would try changing it.

Hey all. I've had the dreaded "unblock diesel filter" pop up in the past week and I know my options are to either replace or get it deleted.. However...
It just occured to me that a couple of weeks ago I got an anti-pollution fault which I checked out as being high voltage on the glow plugs - something which I read was required for a regen on the DPF.... Read more
Hi Danny
Its coming up to replacement time I would think but first check the battery voltage, it should be about 14.4 volts with the engine running, if its OK the filter could well be the problem. If you are a DIYer the filters are not very expensive on ebay.
Starting my Accord iCDTI has been a bit laborious a couple of times recently. Over the bank holiday weekend it hasn't been driven and now it cranks but will not start.
The original battery is the OE one, so 8 years old. I guess it doesn't owe meanything so I was planning to nip straight out in my wifes car when the shops reopen tomorrow and buy a new one.... Read more
New battery went in today. Started pretty well on the button. Drove 20 miles to work. Left it all day. Amazingly good starting at coming home time. Think the old one must have been weak for a while. One surprise benefit is that the car seems quicker and smoother now the engine management has been reset whilst powered down! All is well!
I didn't take the old one with me for testing as I didn't realise Unipart would offer this service. However, the guy put my brand new battery on the tester and it failed! He then started muttering something about calibration. That's quite a handy sales tool...!

Hi,
I wonder if anyone can give me some advise. I have recently purchased a Ford Ka that came with 12 months MOT. I've been driving it for the past 4 weeks and a couple of weeks ago noticed a funny smell coming form the air vents at times when driving. I put this down to the outside atmosphere. Then last week I started to hear a sound coming from the steering column that sounds like there's grit rattling around inside of it someh were. On top of that I now have a humming noise coming from the car when driving it usually starts at around 25 -30 mile per hr and gets louder when in higher gears. I don't want to take the car back to the garage I bought it from as I think they may be a bit dodgey as I had an initial problem with the care ie the bonnet had jammed within a week of purchase. Could someone.... can anyone shed any light as to what the problem maybe, oh yes I have just checked my power steering oil and found that it isn't fluid which is a milky yogurty substance should power steering fluid look like that? I know I have to take it to a reputable garage but it would be useful if I had an idea of what to explain when I get there.... Read more
Your story sounds as if the PAS reservoir has been topped up with the wrong stuff - it shouldn't look yogurty. I would get it checked, and if need be take it back to the seller to sort it.

Probably a poor connection on the plug, blowers take a lot of current and sometimes burn the connections if they are not making good contact, pull the plug out and inspect.
