Bought a Mini 1 convertible from new
Clutch and flywheel failed catastrophically after 11300 miles but within the three year warranty. Mini maintain that this is is not a technical fault but due to my driving style. Difficult to understand given that I have had over 500000 miles of motoring experience and never had to replace a clutch! Read more
"Clutch and flywheel failed catastrophically " exactly what fialed. What engine do you have and have you got a nose down quite steep drive. I came a cross a VW TDi 1.9 what suffered a DMF failure caused by reversing up the drive every morning and riding the clutch. Regards Peter

Can anyone offer me an explanation as to why my car is using about a third of a litre of oil a month. There is no blue smoke from the exhaust and no leaks. Don't recall seeing one in my car, but can you see the outline of a light in the fuel gauge as that's probably where it would be?
Best not to run the fuel low anyway. The common rail fuel system has very tight tolerances (injectors and fuel pump) and won't appreciate debris being dragged through it from the bottom of the fuel tank.

Originally, the UK's Construction & Use regulations define unladen weight as the vehicle without driver, passengers or payload but with full fuel tank and full oil, water, etc.
Under EC legislation, not all of which applies in the UK, the term kerbweight is used in sales literature defined as with a 75kg allowance for driver with full oil, water, etc but with fuel tank only 90% full - this figure is around 70kg higher than the old unladen weight but varies according to the size of the fuel tank and density of fuel, diesel or petrol. Kerbweight doesn't include any vehicle options fitted at manufacture or subsequently....
