Hi. Since the cold weather begun, I have been having problems with my central locking on my 51 plate Mondeo. It locks and unlocks itself at random, stationary and driving. This has also coincided with me turning on the individual child locks on each of the rear doors (I have subsequently turned them off, as I thought the problem might be related to this). I've taken the car to a good garage (SLC in Plymouth) but they could not diagnose any obvious problems - no faults or alarms etc. Any clues as to what the problem is and how to stop it? Thanks. Most central locking faults on mondeo/focus models are caused by problems with the doorlock actuators on the front doors .Most commonly the drivers door.I have recently had similar problems on my own mondeo estate .Replaced drivers door lock actuator and all is well.2 weeks later the o/s/r door packed up and had to replace that one also.hth
Bought said car 2 months ago and am a first time Audi owner and experienced home mechanic. Had occasion to use rear fog lights on mototrway recently and was constantly flashed at from following cars. On investigation it turns out that my rear fog light or lights were not working although tell-tale indicator on switch showed red. How do you access the rear fog lights to change bulbs - do you really have to remove acres of trim? All my previous cars (different makes) had a small access panel to access all types of rear lights and which was very easily removed. Read more
If you have a 3 door then the fog light is in the cluster drivers side ( By law on RH drive ) If you have a sports back it in the light in the tailgate drivers side. I have the drawing if you post up your email address. Regards Peter
Peter, Thanks for reply. I have a 3-dr. As said, I have 4 bulbs in the cluster, none of which is a fog lamp (tail, stop, brake, indicator). Please could you send your drawing to grahammoore98@yahoo.co.uk. Also do you have any more on my non-working rear washer , seperate post. No sign of leaking from a disconnected pipe anywhere. Regards, Graham...
Bought said car 2 months ago and am a first time Audi owner and an experienced home mechanic. Rear wash no longer works although you can hear the elec motor running when the stalk is activated. (Front washers are fine). I have cleared the 2 jets on the rear blade with a pin but this did not solve problem. Cannot see how to access 'plumbing' and no sign of liquid leaking out anywhere. Can anyone help please? Read more
This may be a pump problem and although you can hear it the pump rotar may have come off the shaft. Are you sure that fluid is not running out of the pipe that should be copled to the wiper motor. Regards Peter
Peter, Thanks for reply - sorry for my slow response - Christmas etc. Are there 2 washer pumps - one for front and one for rear? If so, I could understand that the pump for the rear washer may have a detached rotor, but this must be a very rare occurence? Visual inspection is very difficult as the washer reservoir/pump(s) are so well hidden - I cannot see any leaks of fluid when viewing under the car when rear wash is demanded, so that would rule out a detached pipe in the engine compartment or for the length of the pipe run under the car. Perhaps I have a detached pipe at the rear end and my tailgate is filling up with fluid-but surely it would eventually run out somewhere. George...
hi, car just died on me and now when you turn the ignition on everything comes on but when you turn the key to start the engine nothing not even a click. the milage comes on for about a min or so then there is just dotted lines. does anyone think it could be the ecu and if so any idea how to get a second hand one reprogrammed? thanks john Read more

I have a 2004 1.3 Getz that has done 32,000 miles.
When started from cold and driving off it hesitates on acceleration for about the first 1/2 a mile or so then as it warms up the fault goes away and it drives normally.
I hooked up my laptop to the OBD port one morning wu=hile the engine was cold..
There were no fault codes so I thought I would look at some data instead.... Read more
Ok, thanks,
I checked the fuel trims earlier, the short term was +14.9%
the long term was -15.6%
I have no idea what fuel trims are though!
Hi techies :)
I've owned my mk3 for ~7 years and still enjoy driving it; just one little problem : my luggage compartment lamp (inside the boot on left hand side) won't light up when hatch is open.... Read more
now that is a very good idea ! :)
The terminals aren't corroded or anything.
I will try rigging up a test lamp (using the good bulb) tomorrow :)
cheers
how can I test pump is u/s before buying a new one I can hear pump working
when I press stalk but no water at nozzles Read more
Hi
Check for leaks under the bonnet from the connections at the washer pump.
Check pipes haven't popped off
Check got lots of washer fluid in (so you're not trying to pump air)
Check nozzles not blocked / frozen

This one looks a bit meaner, even if it hasn't got such huge wheels (Volvo Sugga)
