I think you need to tell us a little more info ! have you lost a key ? or has it stopped working ? is it a blip key ? or just a solid key ? or does the car not start ? On a 52/53 year that is the change over when fords went from timed to coded keys and the proggramming is very differentI can start & open doors with the key. buttons dont work (its not the battery} any ideas, its not a blip key either.
Hey - i have a 2006 focus that has started to jump out of 2nd gear under deceleration or when been held in gear going downhill. Haven't got it checked out yet but was wondering if it was a serious issue or not. Appreciate any help Read more
Hi, I'm having the same problem but in a 2009 focus manual. Seems to pop out of gear going downhill. Wondering what your solution was or if anyone has any advice?
Hi - the engine for the above makes a slight grating / pinking noise for a short period when lightly revvd from idle when warm but not at higher speeds. its not audible from inside the car
Took it to the local garage and he had a quick look - thought it might be the air intake and confirmed it when revvd quite hard there are slight gaps in noise from the exhaust - which he took to be air being sucked in through the exhaust and thought the air intake might be slightly blocked.... Do a plug chop....that is,kill your ignition as soon as you hear the pinking noise and before releasing the accelerator pedal. This will give an idea what your mixture/combustion is like at the precise moment the noise is evident.Do this with new plugs if they haven`t alleviated the problem initially. If your old plugs show a lot of carbon build-up then this will be an indication of the state of piston crown, combustion chamber and valves.Worn valves/guides can sound noisy coupled with glowing carbon deposits which cause pre-ignition leading to associated rattles and strange exhaust pulses.
It`s the higher rev range where you might end up burning a plug out/holing a piston so doubt if you have much of a problem with your initial rev-up symptoms as you have described, unless it`s drinking fuel.Providing you service the engine regularly and it is not allowed to overheat I wouldn`t worry too much, even with high mileage and burning a bit of oil,as long as you keep oil&water topped up....
i am feeling about one manth that my steering wheel feel havy , how will i sort it out ? Read more
Moved to Technical, where you may get some help, although your post iosn't very specific.
I presume you've tried the obvious - check the tyre pressures....
Hi All - First time poster.
I have read the numerous posts about the Megane Reving Problems but there does not seem to be a definitive answer.... Read more
This question is aimed at those who travel by car to work or use a car for their work. What are your key considerations when leasing/ purchasing a vehicle? For example do you prioritise a good interior layout, comfort and refinement over performance? Other aspects maybe equipment, boot space/ practicality, running costs and have these needs changed as you have got older? Read more
Wors disney, meet my requirments that is, also being an Octavia, it is practically claustrophobic, poor rear visibility, plus too low for comfortable entry & egress.
But hey it pleased Senior Managment, whose vehicle it nominally is....
During the winter months you strongly suggest that Skoda branded screenwash is used. The problem is this is hugely expensive. Are there any everyday brands eg bluecol which would be suitable. Read more
The fan type of washer jets so beloved by VAG are very prone to clogging if you use tap water and happen to live in a hard water area. The VAG branded washer fluid may contain softening agents.
Of course, I'm far too mean to buy anything which is unnecessary - so rainwater + Wilkinson's cheapest fluid does the job for me. Note that this additive decomposes in the heat of the Summer, so run your fluid solution out by the end of the Winter and replace with plain rainwater....
Hi all
I've been having a problem the last week or so with my focus. It was an intermittent fault, with all fault lights coming on and speed/petrol/temp gauges dropping to zero for a few seconds.... Read more
Modern cars are very sensitive to voltage fluctuations.I would strongly suggest that you get the basic electrics checked out.Battery /connections and charging/alternator as a start.hth
Hi,
Trying to track down the source of black smoke from my Focus. It only occurs when starting from cold overnight (so OK if left during the daytime). What happens is black smoke on startup, and in addition the startup itself has become a bit 'rough'. After a minute or less depending on temp, the engine idles normally, and this morning in the cold just a tiny trace of normal white exhaust due to the cold.... Read more
Sorry to thread hijack but I have the exact same car with the same problem so far I have changed the glow Plugs to no avail. Misfire when starting for around 45 seconds then it all goes away and problem will not occur until car left overnight. It always fires up immediately when starting but I was wondering if there could be an air leak on one of the fuel pipe unions causing it?
Does your car take ages to register on the temp gauge?

It's available on a number of cars-it's called "global opening";useful in very hot countries to cool car before you get in.Should also be "global closing" as well where all windows can be closed from the key fob or key as well.
