Occasionally the starter motor does not turn the engine at all. After one or more further attempts it succeeds and the engine starts normally. The battery is about 4 years old. I would prefer not to replace the battery or starter motor on the basis of a guess (or even a retailer's battery test, call me a cynic). If anyone has a better suggestion I'd be very grateful. Hi everybody,
Just joined your forum as I have a problem with my Mondeo 2.0 lx tdci 2003 110k.
I just purchased this car from a liquidation sale ( as seen ) I have driven the 50 miles from the sale to my home. It started fine but had a LOUD wining type noise on revving very much like a high pitched bearing noise. As most of the 50 miles was Motorway I nursed the car for the first 10 due to the noise. Suddenly the noise stopped with the car driving ok but unable to go over 50 mph. As I got close to the end of my journey I decided to push it a bit harder only to be able to reach 65 mph.
The oil is ok as is the water etc,. Any ideas?

Good advice. They do follow on HGV as we have some cases. Similarly if the driving is careless or dangerous as they proceed on criminal grounds. I have one "Dangerous" case at the moment (Irish driver) which will probably go to an extradition.

You will need to lower the glass to enable you to unscrew the lifter plate from the window regulator mechanism.Usually 2 cross head screws.hth
My headlights just failed on a short trip of around half a mile or so. Sidelights still worked all round, foglights too, but headlights--nothing. Got back home and checked the fuse box but it was nothing like the one shown in Haynes, so pulling it out was a waste of effort. Lo and behold, when I tried the lights after putting the fuse box back into its fastenings the headlights worked, so its clearly not a fuse, but Ive still absolutely no idea what it might be. Are the lights controlled by a relay; so could that be developing a fault, and if so, where do I find it? Is it possible that by fiddling with the fuse box Ive re-established a connection that was dislodged? Any other suggestions would be most welcome; dont want to be left without headlights, especially on these cold, dark winter evenings. Cheers. Read more
No water was apparent first time I dropped down the fuse box, but then again I wasnt looking for any. I'll give that a try, ta.

Hi,
My first post in quite a while...
I bought a 2.5 year old car about 3 weeks ago from a main dealer. As the weather has got colder I noticed an odd sound, which has been diagnoised as piston slap. The car has done 17K and has a FSH. The dealer has advised that the manufacturer wants to change the engine (or at least the bottom end). My questions are:
Should I keep the car or exercise the 30 day exchange policy?
If I do keep the car will I have any problems selling it in future because of this?
Any advice appreciated, as exchanging it is my preferred option but it will cost me several hundred pounds plus a new finance deal on a more expensive model. Read more
Mazda have one of the best ratings currently, You will get a 1 year minimum warranty on the repair, if in doubt ask the dealer and Mazda to reassure you (and extend the warranty). Is it from a Mazda main dealer, if so take the repair, if not main dealer say goodbye. Good luck!
Many thanks tdc, that sounds like good advice.
