what is the correct way to drive a diesel?
I always put the key in and foot on clutch and allow the lights to come on the dash and wait a few seconds for the to go out, always wait for the glow plus light to go off too in warm or cold weather. i tend to give it 10-15 for the engine to settle before i make my journey.... Read more
Hi i bought a used car on finance in june, no they appear to be problems which the garage cant repair or know whats wrong, its stalls and cuts out whilst driving
can anyone tell me what rights i have to repairing it under warranty or handback etc, any help would be greatful guys Read more
They have to fix or replace. The best thing is to go and see them and see what they will do. It obviously needs fixing and if they cannot fix it they should get someone else involved who can.
Do not be tempted to go somewhere else with it yourself for a repair though. It needs to be fixed in association with them - at this stege at least.
having problems with radio, within minutes of turn on it behaves as though no ariel is connected but cd is fine.i see there are many for sale on ebay is it a common problem ? Read more

Dont know how i missed finding out about later cam chain ka fuel consumption but its now costing me £10 week more than my old ka. As i intend to keep it for years and spend out on body repairs rather tgan risk another cambelt, that money will have gone in petrol. I am sreiously thinking about having the gear ratio changed to old ka level. This must be possible. Are the gearboxes idemtical and roughly how long a job. ?!! Thank you. Read more
Ford appantly redesigned the 46 mpg to 35 for its final year to make it quicker. The old one was much slower. I have it that a lot of this was gear ratio. If thats all i want it put back!I didnt know it wS possible to check on ford site for comparisons. Thank you
Ok here's an interesting one.
I recently spent a couple of months working as a motorcycle courier, riding a bike hired to me by the courier company.... Read more
Yep. Perhaps the option to delete one's own posts would be a good idea?

The 12 windows in my house were uPVC double glazed about 25 years ago. The rubber surrounds have maybe lost some of their elasticity as very tiny draughts can now be detected, or maybe they are just cold air falling down the panes. Has any poster found a way to decide? There are 89 panes and thus 356 sides, any of which could be at fault and too many for smoking matches, cigarettes or smouldering string. There is a £45 electronic gimmick but I don't want to spend that much and, in any case, am not sure it will deal with this particular problem. I don't know who made the units and they were fitted by a jobbing builder, now defunct. Read more
If you want an expert opinion why not ask a local double glazing supplier/installer to take a look? Many will give you a free quote, and I'm sure they would be happy to explain the nature of the problem (although it will probably be in the form of "if you buy our windows this won't happen because..." and a little bit of questioning should help tease out your answer). We did this when we were looking into our double glazing and our inspector/estimator helped explain our consdensation problem.
These seem very well priced on Autotrader. Are they any good? Also what about Vauxhall Astra 1.7s and 2.0 dti's? Read more
di was a very, very solid, if agricultural engine. As a workhorse, there is little better.

I have a small dent in my drivers door caused by another cars door being opened on it in a car park. However, the paint has not been broken. Can anyone give me any idea of the cost of getting this repaired by one of the repair companies such as Chipsaway etc. The car is on a PCP and due to be traded in in March. I just want to get an idea as to whether this repair is worth doing. Read more
A couple of years ago it was around £75 per panel - (single or a few small dings) best and most ecomical bet is to arrange getting it done on a dealers site when the dent fixer is sorting out a number of dealers cars. Getting them to come out ot you is odd on for a higher price.
My brother has a VW Golf 2009 model that hasn't been used for 2 weeks ! Now the battery is dead and i can't unlock the car ! The doors have no key holes in order to unlock it and i can't open the hood in order to recharge the battery ! What can i do ? Read more

Are there any problems converting my Camry over to LPG here in Australia, and is it worth the outlay of about $.2,700.00 (net) australian dollars (about One thousand six hundred and seventy pounds) ? Read more
I agree with madf, totally, iether buy a car with LPG as factory fit or buy a car you can afford to run.
I would not fit LPG on a car under warranty....

The engines in my diesel cars were German. If ever you drove in Germany you would know that their engine designers are fully aware of the need to take account of driving habits at home. Not just on the Autobahn, but everywhere. One goes as fast as possible, no mercy is shown until the speed limit is reached. Possibly.
