I have a small dent in my drivers door caused by another cars door being opened on it in a car park. However, the paint has not been broken. Can anyone give me any idea of the cost of getting this repaired by one of the repair companies such as Chipsaway etc. The car is on a PCP and due to be traded in in March. I just want to get an idea as to whether this repair is worth doing. Read more

Are there any problems converting my Camry over to LPG here in Australia, and is it worth the outlay of about $.2,700.00 (net) australian dollars (about One thousand six hundred and seventy pounds) ? Read more
I agree with madf, totally, iether buy a car with LPG as factory fit or buy a car you can afford to run.
I would not fit LPG on a car under warranty....
Am tempted but on a recent mixed testdrive only averaged 42 mpg. Fifth Gear and Autocar also complained of very disappointing economy too. I think this is a characterful little car but not impressed with the economy at all. Read more
The car is a 1995 ford fiesta rs1800 (mk3.5), it's the facelift version of the mk3's, a few differences such as PATS, flap fuel cap etc.
The car wouldnt start, so stright away i decided to do a good service as was about time, spark plugs, ht leads and ignition pack (it's a distributless ignition coil). Now the other thing i thought to check was the crank sensor (which appears fine).... Read more
How did you check the crank sensor. You should check the clicking is not the fuel pump relay. Removing an airbag may directly effect your insurance. Regards Peter
So I've had my first crash today. I met a car on my side of the road, head on crash and then out gets a staggering drunken man who failed the breathalyser and was charged at the scene...
I'm happy to be all fine and the man is insured so all OK.... Read more
Thanks for everyone's advice, it's food for thought. Was a fairly bad crash - lots of damage so perhaps best if written off. I'm peeved as I've been meticulous with it's servicing/timing belt changes had new (quality) tyres on last week - it was to be the car I was aiming for high mileages on (it was bought years ago as a "keeper" and I've really looked after it). It was booked for it's second timing belt/water pump replacement next week, which is a small mercy - I'd have been gutted for it to be written off after!!
I know this means little to the insurer, and why should it. My problem is how do you value the knowledge that all was well looked after with high quality parts by a high quality mechanic who you trust?...
Over a month ago we struck up a deal for a new X1. We agreed to part ex my car and agreed a value without actually having the part ex vehicle present, but comprehensively described it including a dent etc and the dealer marked accordingly on their sheet.
Last Thursday we bought the part ex in to show the dealer who seemed happy and confirmed the new car should be at the dealership on 20th Dec 2010.... Read more
They should agree to reimburse you in full for the deposit as the deal has changed. If they do not come back to me at asklucy@honestjohn.co.uk
I had the AA out twice to my car recently. The other day it cut out just before i was about to drive out the driveway, Now today i was driving along the road the the car lost power and slowed down, the revvs cut down to just below 1000rpm then the engine stalled or cut out,
Can anyone please advise what the problem might be, Ive had the egr value, Cam Crank sensor, checked they are ok so im told, also fuel and airfilter changed , Its only done 33k... Read more
Ive been called to advising they have found the problem im told the diesel froze and there was a airlock in the fuel system and this caused the engine to stall, theyve sorted it im told and also replaced the battery as it was damaged from being started whilst they had it, they dont know why the glowplug light came on though, So i will find out tomorrow if they have solved the problem.
Does this sound genuine?

They can't retain your deposit ie enforce the terms of the contract if the same contract shows the px offer value you agreed at the time. I'd be positively firm but not pushy or rude, and say that price is unacceptable and ask for your deposit back and a date you expect to have it by. If the sales guy says he can't do that, don't argue with him, tell him "then introduce me to the person who can please." Dealer principal is best bet. Don't deal with them again; it's someone being opportunistic and reckoning your gullible enough to let your heart rule your head. Even if they retracted and offered me the original px price I'd be tempted to tell them where to insert it.
The missus was straightening up in the car park and as she slowly inched back a bit , she bumped into a car that was being driven very close to the line of parked cars. Looking at the damage caused to the other persons door and that done to our car...closing speed maybe 5 mph?, it looks very much like point damage that one would get if, say, someone had driven into her car door with a bumper corner or similar. Our car has no visible damage other than a slight scuffing of red paint.
So we think that the woman is trying it on and that the damage was pre-existing. Her car has a lot of other dings and dents all over it and she initially tried to tell my wife that she had broken the car wing mirror - which was a physical impossibility given the relative heights. ... Read more
I don't think these two photos look like the two ends of the same collision.
If the Mazda had gone faster it could have dented the Corsa to the same depth but the damage would have been wider....
A couple of years ago it was around £75 per panel - (single or a few small dings) best and most ecomical bet is to arrange getting it done on a dealers site when the dent fixer is sorting out a number of dealers cars. Getting them to come out ot you is odd on for a higher price.
