Isuzu Rodeo - car on N.I plates - need to register in UK? - ollycob

I recently bought an isuzu rodeo double cab pick up truck, it has a normal V5 logbook but is still on Northern Irish plates. All MOT's are under this plate etc, however whilst shopping round for insurance on the truck most insurers have a job to find the truck on their systems and they keep telling me it's an import?

Do I need to get the truck a 'normal' UK plate or will the NI plate be sufficient? The car has tax etc so is road legal. If I do need to register the truck how do I go about this?

Many thanks

My car has a personal plate from NI. Hasn't been an issue in Essex,

I don't think it's a personal plate, looks like a standard N.I plate to me - 3 letters then 4 numbers.

NI is part of the UK. My daughter had an NI registered car for many years with no problem.

The problem is not that it it is on N.I. plates its because its a grey import probably came through S.I.

So what do I do now? Car has British V5 logbook and has had since 2001, however model is unknown which is why I think the different insurance companies I have been ringing for quotes don't know what it is - hell I don't know what it is! Manual says TFR/TFS, wiki says TF is UK name for Rodeo however if I ever enter Isuzu Rodeo into search engines (tyres, insurance, parts etc) the engine size doesn't come up - 2.8td.

Mine has three letters and three numbers. The letters happen to be my initials.

It's a NI plate alright, from Coleraine as a matter of fact.

Your issue is that you have a vehicle that was never originally sold in the UK. It's a 'grey import'. Which would be an issue whatever plate it was wearing. Try specialist insurers like Adrian Flux.
