ford focus tdci 2004 - nothing from car when i turn the key - jj74

hi, car just died on me and now when you turn the ignition on everything comes on but when you turn the key to start the engine nothing not even a click. the milage comes on for about a min or so then there is just dotted lines. does anyone think it could be the ecu and if so any idea how to get a second hand one reprogrammed? thanks john

Assume you`ve checked the battery/starter connections?

Do the lights work?

If yes, it's not battery connections.

If no... possible battery/alternator/earth...

all the lights work and all the lights come on the dash. have tried a earth from engine to body and still nothing. remote central locking works and the lights flash when you press open or close. so maybe ecu or imoblizer??????

Starter motor relay is the first place I would look.

but why would the milage come on for a couple of seconds then there is just dotted lines?
