In late September 2006 my elderly dad paid a Skoda main dealer £10300 for a brand new Skoda Fabia 5dr hatchback 1.4 16v elegance ac. petrol, manual, metallic stone grey with alloy wheels. Exactly three years later in September 2009 with only 12000 miles on the clock and a few odd scratches the dealership purchased the car back from him for £4000 in part exchange for a brand new Skoda Fabia 1.4TDI diesel manual black. The on the road price was £11600 less the £4000. I feel that he was probably ripped off. Can anyone give me a steer on the part exchange price he probably should have received.

hi,

Today i was driving my nissan almera (03 reg, with 69000 on clock) for 2 hrs on motorway and when i left the motor way and came to traffic lights to stop i found car revs going very down nearly at zero but then it goes up to its origional pt (pt where they r used to b starting the car). It did that at 3 or 4 times whenever it comes to stop...but after that it started driving fine only for couple of miles and then suddenly engine management came on...... Car is still driving fine with no revs going up and down.....and no loss of power...... Read more

"Production of the new pick-up utility, the Amarok, will begin in Hannover, with the expectation that up to 40,000 of the sturdy vehicles will be made by the middle of 2012."

To me that was the most significant para of the article (thanks for finding it, Andy). In many countries of the world the small truck / 4x4 / pickup market is the one to crack. The Japanese, especially Toyota, took over from Land Rover when LR's quality took a dive....

Is it legal to put a pair of 235/75/15 on one axle and a pair of 215/65/15 on the other? Read more

Something is not making sense here. If the combination is legal surely it must be safe. Equally, if it is not safe, it must be illegal. So where exactly are the rules defining which combinations of tyres are permitted? Or are you saying that the law permits tyre combinations that are unsafe? When you say "if stopped" do you mean stopped by police? If the combination is legal why would I be on a hiding to nothing?

hi, this is my first post on here, seems a pretty helpful forum

right i have a 1995 vw golf 1.4, being 17 i cant really insure anythin much bigger, all my friends have like 1.2 corsas and 1.1 saxos, and when we race i always lag behind in terms of speed, most ive had out of my car is a about 95mph, i fitted adjustable coilovers and it sticks to the road like glue, roundabouts are no problem, i can easily take them at about 40/50mph, but then all my mates catch up and pass me, basically i just wanna know if theres anythign i can do that will make it faster, like chipt he ecu or change the gearing maybe? as i said im 17 and cant really afford a gti yet.... Welcome to the forum. Some people think you're winding us up, but on the assumption that you're not....

I'm sorry that you haven't found some of the comments above helpful, but people are concerned for your safety. None of us would want to encourage you to race, except on a racetrack (or karting). We wouldn't encourage anyone to race on public roads, even if they had years of driving experience. I'm sure you understand why....

The engine cut out while driving up hill and will not start. There are no fault codes and I have limited live data.
Can anyone help me with either a possible cure or a wiring diagram. I would guess at the crank position sensor but I hate guessing . Read more

It's most likely a break in the harness where it passes between the back of the roof to the tailgate. If you pull back the rubber sleeve you will be able to inspect the wiring. Chances are one of then will be broken. It's a common problem on estates where the harness continually gets bent backwards and forwards opening and closing the tailgate.

Hope this helps...
