Hi Lucy. I was involved in a minor accident last November. The third party insurers admitted liability on the phone the next day. Approx 1 month later my insurance company informed me that the third party had raised the question of liability. The third party then paid, without prejudice, my hire car and repair costs. The question of liability is still outstanding a year on. If this went to court, would the initial admission of liability, then change of mind have any bearing on the case ? Read more
This would probably be better dealt with through Private Email - asklucy@honestjohn.co.uk but I assume there are some matters outstanding - possible a Personal Injury?
The answer is yes it would have a bearing on the case but an initial admission is not necessarily binding if additional evidence or information turns up which would justify a change of view.
I am looking to change from my 52 plate Seat Leon 1.8 SE automatic to something a little smaller. I need an automatic due to slight mobility issue with my left arm. I findmyself totally confused by the options, and am hoping for some solid advice from people who actually know about cars (unlike myself!)
My standard month would include a daily commute of just 7 miles round trip, and one or two one hour long jaunts along the motorway network. I am not overly concerned by looks, but value reliability, safety and security. It would be our only car. Any suggestions please?? Read more
This is an interesting topic for me, because I’m starting to think about automatics for similar reasons to Jax – left leg problems in my case. I’d like to see more information about the transmission in the car specifications on this site. Categories could be used – something like Manual, Conventional auto, CVT, VSG or semi-auto. A suggestion for HJ perhaps?
I drove a manual i20 recently and found it had an incredibly light clutch pedal. I couldn't help wondering if they're all like that....
hi guys , i recently purchased a 1.4 peugeot 306 maridian as i wanted to downsize from my 2.0 ford focus gear for cheaper tax n insurance , the problem is when i first start the car up it will cut out within seconds as the excelerator dosn't seem to work when pressing down , then i will restart engine and everthing seems to work , my lower gears don't seem to have any pulling power to go up hills , 2nd and 3rd gear for hills feels like i'm using 4th n 5th , first thought it was because i was use to driving 2.0 ford focus with great pulling power , but my friend has got a 1.2 peugeot and i had a drive of hers comparing both cars and her car seems to be better with gears and it's pretty nifty driving so can anyone tell me why my car feels like i'm sat on a snail , petrol wise the car seems to be eating that too
please help if you can , i'm sick of garages takin the mick as i think you can guess i'm female !... Read more
hi , yes it was a mechanic that sold / part exchanged (my 2.0 FOCUS GHIA) the car lol , he is my best friends partner , but i don't like to be a pain as he works all day and the last thing i want is for him to come home and to have to start messing with my car , the lad works plenty hours , so i would rather take to garage and let him have his leisure time to himself , but i know he would go nuts if i do that , and most garages i have taken my car to have gave me list of jobs on previous car that never needed doing for mots , even reputable garage like quick fit failed my previous focus on things that never needed doing and i had independant mot done after my friend partner looked at jobs on failure sheet and disagreed , they had to refund all cost but somehow quick fit escaped the blame as they blamed it on the mechanic who did the mot saying he was a newly tester . hence why i hate garages taking the micky outta me
my friends partner is a ford technician and mot tester he says the car needs to be taken to peagout for a reading of the fault on a special machine to diagnose faults and give codes, he is going to take sometime over weekend but unfortunatly i can't spare my car longer for him to keep it til problem finally solved as i rely on my car for my job as no public transport takes me near my work and the ford garage he works in is 30 miles away from here so he needs car to take to his work but it's hard me sparing my car all day , he has done lots to the car before handing it over ....
I have had a test drive in this model & have arranged to buy a Demo model from a Main Dealer. On starting the engine from cold there was a loud Whisteling noise from the engine compartment. The salesman did not think anything of it. Is this a normal state of affairs with this engine?

Thanks for the info. I will see how it goes. Mauricew2
The car is an 02 plate with 88k on the clock. Emissions light came on today, car sounds rough and is struggling when idling at about 800rpm. I have no power and generally it sounds like the exhaust is blowing. Am taking it to a garage tomorrow but wanted views on what the problem might be and a rough idea of how much it might cost.

Our council is insisting that wheelchair accessible vehicles that are converted have a National or Single Type Approval Certificate.
I currently use second hand Doblos but can't find any with this certificate.... Read more
If it is your vehicle then that should be the answer the installer should supply you with the certificate unless its a do it yourself job.Is that your case? or like the op is saying the vehicle is rented they have the certificate. If its a home made job i think the council would want to inspec the vehicle if it is safe.Correct me if i am wrong.
would just like to say i have recieved a recall for my car for the cam bolts, hence mine snapped in january with 21000 on the clock and they would not admit any probs. they have now asked me to send my receiipts in and to take it to the garage still, hopefully i will still get what was rightfully due to me Read more
Hi, I am in the same situation and will start to chase Vauxhall asap. Did you/are you expecting a positive outcome for this?
Thanks, Tim
Post this on www.VWAudiform.co.uk. I thought that the car should not shut down when the road speed sensor is detecting movement. Regards Peter
