Can anyone recommend a supplier of replacement key fob/cases only? I believe that it is possible to renew the fob/case using the existing blade and chip but my Peugeot dealer tells me otherwise. HELP! Read more

Hello, on peugeot 106 keyfob (single large button) I had the problem of the button membrane dropping off .

Peugeot garage said I had to buy a complete key. When I asked to see the exploded view of the key you could see which parts were detailed seperately and available. And yes the membrane could be ordered....

my vw golf diesel has an electrical fault. it seems to go on to limp mode. i.e the turbo seems to cut out. if i turn off the ignition and back on again the turbo comes back on. it has been on a computer and showed up cam shaft sensor. this was changed but didnt solve the problem. it went to vw and there computer showed the same cam shaft sensor. it was changed but made no differance. they now say they need to strip back the wiring as they think it could be that. im not saying i dont trust vw but they told me a sharan needed the wiring repairing but it turned out to be a temp sensor. seems if the computer doesnt pick it up there stuffed.

today we changed the air mass meter and this helped the car. it ran better but still lost the turbo but less frequently.... Read more

The problem with computers is that they are very clever but they have no brain. So in your case of engine diagnostics ,the computer cannot differenciate between a faulty sensor or a wiring fault. As far as it knows the cam sensor is not working.Has anyone checked the working/output of the sensor? It is very possible that the sensor has lost its power supply due to a fault in the wiring loom(seen this before on Galaxy/Sharan models with same engine). However ,I am not convinced that fixing this fault will fix your turbo problem.hth

I have recently purchased this vehicle from a main dealer. Only had it just over a week. I have found that 1st and Reverse gear can be difficult to engage in cold weather, particularly after the vehicle has been standing .

I have noted the comments on HJ's Car Review page and suspect that the cause may well be the old and sticky grease on the gearbox input shaft. Requires the gearbox removal, cleaning and replacing with new grease. (plus a new clutch while it is in bits)... Read more

Garages, like Doctors, must get fed up with drivers (and patients) quoting details found on the Internet but you cannot deny the value of being able to research the experience of others....

Thought I'd share my experience with this car and it's contrast to the Z4. I've got one on loan for a fortnight, a 2.0 TDI DSG Auto. Not sure of the spec but it must be reasonable as it has heated leather etc.

Anyway, the styling of any car is always subjective, personally I find the Eos smart but bland, my mam commented immediately that she thought it looked dull and my dad agreed. ... Read more

I would actually imagine that the Octavia would have more character than the Eos! It's a good combination of motors to have on a permanent basis though. Once mine is fixed I'll be back to Z4 only!

Evening all,

I have just had the Auxilary belt replaced on my car but it is really noisey and squeeking.
I have been spraying a lot of WD40 on the top cog (sorry not sure of its name) and the noise has been going away but as soon as I leave the car and restart it up again a little while later the noise is back.
Is there a way of me fixing this myself?
I can take the car back to the mechanic but it will mean me not having the car for a day.... Read more

Hi, I'm doing the head gasket at the moment, [ corsa b 1.2, 8 valve]. question is can the cam belt be put back as was, ie not moving the water pump. The idler guide with the pointers on can be moved against its spring in order to remove and replace belt, so providing pointer lines up, theres no need to move pump in theory. is this common practice. the belt was new last year so is not being replaced. thanks for any replies. My Cavalier had about 3 cambelts replaced where they didn't (couldn't) move waterpump. Belts just whined a bit for first 1,000 miles but I had no problems. In fact the only time garage moved pump they ruined it and it started leaking!
