Hello, I have read elsewhere that the above has "up to 7%" Bio in it and this worries me as VAG state they only authorise up to 5% blend. My car runs a a 130 VAG PD engine with no Particulate filters or any of that stuff. I have only used the Shell a few times, should I leave alone? Read more
Hi
just bought this car and got problem already.. when driving longer distance and speed about 75-80 m/h it starts shaking and then shakes on every gear till I stop car. and then when start going again it stops for avail. what might be wrong? help please Read more
It does it even with your foot off. Diesels shut fuel off completely with the throttle off so either you have a leaking injector which woulf show up at tickover, or you have a dual mass flyweel problem that when warm/hot the centre is moving and unbalancing the flywheel. This will cause a very regular vibration which of course would be speed and revs dependant. Regards Peter
Hello,
I am needing a replacement engine for my car: Ford Mondeo Ghia x 2001 2.0 Petrol Manual, REG: Y909 MDT.... Read more
Hello,
I have been told by Ford that it should fit the car with no problems....
We have recently bought a 2004 Honda CR-V from a main dealer. They put a full 12 month MOT on the car prior to collection but the MOT had advisories that both side front suspension bushes were wearing but, at the moment, there was no play. I was so astonished at the time that I said nothing but I am amazed they would sell a car with a known fault. The situation was made worse by the fact that the "Honda Happiness" warranty we purchase also does not cover bushes and the fault is due to wear and tear. I would have thought nearly every fault is due to wear and tear so the warranty is not of much use (and is quite expensive).
I wonder where we stand on the Sale of Goods Act? In this case, it is not that the fault is assumed to have existed at the time we bought the car, we know it was because they said so!!... Read more
Hi Greg, the thing is you bought the car knowing that the bushes were wearing so you have no recourse if (when?) they do actually fail; Sales Of Goods would not apply thus.
Equally you can't expect a warranty to pick up a fault which was known to exist prior to the warranty commencing....
I recently purchased a second hand mervia from my local vauxhall dealer and use thier website technical spec to make up up mind as it stated the car had a Trip Computer and electric Heated mirrors.
When I went to collect the car the sale person went thorough the controls and I asked him to explain how to activate the Trip Computer and he told me that he did not know but that I could read through the manual and it would explain all.... Read more
The difference in value of a used car with or without a trip computer will be minimal if anything at all.
I would suggest your best bet is to go to the salesperson & explain how important this trip computer is & see if he/she is willing to swap your car for the one you want when one is available....
woke up this morning had very big puddle in passenger foot well, any ideas please ? thanks in advance Read more
the scuttle will be full up lift the bonnet, just below the windscreen you will see a flap in the panel, remove the weather strip lift the flap and if you look down and into the hole you will see the pollen filter and hopefully some water the scuttle drain is in the far corner passenger side, rubber glove time and get your hand down there and shift the twigs and leaves be aware that the only way for the water to get into the car is via the heatermotor and it dont do it any favours so you may have problems with it later, Regards TB
I've noticed that many of the trend setters such as the Mercedes SLS AMG, Jaguar ZJ and the Porsche GT2 RS no longer have foglamps.
There is a belief that the advent of xenon lamps have cancelled the need to have a car equipped with foglamps because xenons are more focussed while there is some consensus that modern day foglamps were merely a necessary fashion accessory. Much like a top button of a golf shirt.... Read more
When was the last time you drove anywhere and thought "God that trip was hairy! My headlamps were filthy!".
I think the issue is that UK weather is generally quite temperate - it doesn't get that cold, it doesn't get that hot, it doesn't often rain or snow very heavily, thunderstorms aren't really that big a deal, and fog is rarely thick enough to need a rear fog light.
For the rest of us in Europe or further afield, the weather is much more extreme, unpredictable and dangerous. That's where those extras become essentials.
Hi, I have a matrix 1.5turbo. A month ago, a half full tank of diesel was topped up with nearly half a tank of unleaded. This wasnt noticed and had an mot and full service 5 days after the occurrence but started to lose power and project black smoke 2 days after this. We took it to a local garage who had it for few days before diagnosing the smell of petrol in tank. The tank was drained and we were advised to keep tank full of diesel and would eventually right itself. After 10 days of this there was small improvement but it still had no power going uphill, still churning out black smoke and not starting up well. Took to another local garage who drained the tank again and told us if problems persisted to take to main dealer. after 10 days it has improved a bit but don't know how long to leave it. Some friends and neighbours have told us anecdotes that maybe will be few months but...mmm...help?

How on earth does the Autotrader website work out distances from one's search address to where the car is situated?!
A couple of examples: car 1, shown as 79 miles away from my home address; turns out to be 95!... Read more
Do I feel lucky - Yes
I have bought my last four cars at a distance - one was over 250 miles away. Admittedly they were 'expensive'; i.e. all over £18,000 so not bangers. Three were exactly as described if not better; one not so good but certainly not a lemon. I did not inspect any of them before they were delivered to me. If I had inspected I perhaps would have not bought one.
Hi, I fixed a suction phone holder to sat nav screen (in hinesight stupidly) and now find that some of the touch screen is not responding to many commands, eg; cannot input an address for navigation, unable to change hours & minutes on clock, cannot get travel information (petrol consumption distanced travelled etc;) alter screen brightness etc; some climate controls not responding and so on. Most other commands work ie: reverse assistance functions fine, all electrics ok, lights & horn ok. Had suggestions to disconnect battery, reboot disc in rear etc; but I am not happy to attempt until all info: is gathered. Be glad of any help & comments, thank you. rg7539. Read more
