My wife has a late 06 206cc. As everyone is aware these cars have no spare, just a can of
Emergency ''get you home'' . The car has 205/45/16 on alloys. I would like to keep a steel spare in the garage. I have tried to get a used 16'' wheel without sucess. There are plenty of 15'' wheels from 206's Can I use one of these with a higher profile tyre in an emergency.... Read more
Today whilst on my way up the M69 I spotted a group of kids (about 10-15 years old) standing on the hard sholder, as i got closer one of them began to try to cross in front of me, luckily he soon realised that he would not make it and stopped before he left the hard shoulder. Although I didnt have to take any evasive action, I very nearly did.
I was obviously worried for the safety of the kids and other motorists so I pulled on the the hard shoulder and dialled 999, reported what was going on and then set off again. By the time I had safely slowed down and pulled off, the kids were miles back so I couldn't confront them personally.... Read more
The trip computer has suddenly gone off-we have looked in the handbook to see if there is a specific fuse-the closest we can find is a fuse that relates to the instrument panel.
We have located the fuses but they are covered by a clear plastic cover and we have bo idea how to get the cover off!... Read more
The clear plastic cover is usually a very tight fit over the fusebox.You may need to get a screwdriver underneath it or at one end to release it.Fuses 31 and 32 seem to control the trip computer and these are located horizontally at the bottom of the fuse box.If these are ok,I would try and disconnect the battery for 10 mins and allow the system to re-boot.hth
The engine turns over spark plugs are working, but the fuel pump is not I removed the relay on the ecu box and was able to get the fuel pump working that way by shorting 2 pins but after buying a new relay the pump still won't work.
After pulling up the rear seat on the drivers side I noticed it has been leaking water as the foam is very damp under the seat at the fuel tank.... Read more
Please let me know if you found a solution to this as I have the exact same problem.
I traced the wiring using a wiring diagram and multimeter and found that the relay coil isn't getting an earth feed from pin 3 of the ecu.

I have a chance to purchase a 1997 BMW Z3, looks great, red sitting on lovely fresh alloys, but electrics are a mess, electric windows etc don't work, is there a central control unit or is it just individual failures? if it is a black box, anyone any idea of how much we are talking, the car is going for about £1500.... The electric windows and central locking system are controlled by a central convenience module loacted behind the glovebox.These are pretty reliable but if the unit does turn out to be faulty,then a s/hand unit could be used from a 3-series E36 model,as a new one is around £250.hth
When driving particuarly at speed), if I steer right the car pulls back to the left. It is fine when steering left.

Have you checked your tyres oneven wear damage or tyre pressure?If ok could be tyres need balancing or tracking checked.Take the car to quik fit or any tyre depot.Hope this helps.
Do the new VW TSI engines need 98 grade petrol or are they ok on 95 ? I am thinking Skoda Yeti with this engine but there is a substantial price premium for the 98 ron.
The VW 1.2 TSI 105 PS engine uses unleaded 95 RON as its standard fuel.
I swapped my running moped for a spares or repair motorcycle
when I swapped we did not fill in the v5's or send them off because he did not have his v5 on him at the time and i forgot to get a reciet :( .
he's now broke my moped by messing with it and putting way too much 2stroke oil in.
And he has found out that I have fixed hes motorcycle.
He now wants to swap back but I dont want to because it cost alot of money to fix the motorcycle
I do not have the v5 because he refuses to send it off and i do not have a reciet all I have are witnesses which are my 2 friends and one of my friends dad who took me in the van to swap they witnessed him look round the moped and say "yes its mint I would like to swap" the day after the swap he even rang me saying " its a really good moped and its running perfect and when can we sort the v5's" however he also asked about the motorcycle and I said "I have had it fixed".
The day after that he rang me saying " the mopeds broke im not swapping unless its fixed " .... Read more

Hello there,
Can anybody tell me where the reservoir fluid is going to for the electric soft top. I have to top it up fairly regularly but I have no idea where it might be leaking from/to. There is no sign of leakage in the boot around the motor and when I look down the wells at either side when the roof is down, again, I can't see any evidence of leaked fluid!!

This is only a basic system with 2 hydraulic rams ,a pump ,and associated pipework.If there is no visible leak from the top ,then a would suspect a leak at the bottom of the rams.This would need the rear interior of the car to be dismantled to gain access to components.hth

I think it's right to phone the 999 for this one but I wouldn't stop and use a roadside phone just because of the potentially dangerous position you are putting yourself in. How many stories do we read about another vehicle ploughing into a car parked on the hard shoulder?
The hard shoulder of a motorway is not a place I would choose to put myself in and would always make the call using my mobile (handsfree of course!) or take the next available exit to enable to pull over and report.
