I was talking to my brother's neighbour today and he has a 59 plate Kia Rio CRDi that costs little more than the petrol version, but returns 60 mpg, is better to drive and very cheap to insure and tax. Having looked up a few reviews, most owners rave about the economy, value for money and reliability of these cars and Which rate Kia quite highly, in fact way higher than my current make, a Nissan. Doing about 9k a year, often in urban driving, is this car worth considering as it is cheaper than the Honda Jazz and Toyota Yaris that I am thinking of? Read more

I've only had my 1.5 diesel under two weeks, but so far I am VERY impressed. Cheap to buy, cheap to run, engine is quiet as a mouse but has the power to go like s*** from a shovel. I get 50+ mpg on urban and 60+ on main roads (60 mph) driving. I tried the 1.4 (I think?) petrol and to be honest, wouldn;t touch it; compared to the diesel the car lacked guts and felt under powered and the engine was noisy.

Hi all this is my first post on here. If anyone can advise me great.

I have bought a fsh 2002 bmw 316ti. The seller claimed it had full service history, i checked the book and it doe's. Now i have started finding way to many problems with the car so i have gone to the garage who has compleated the last three service's over the last 25 thousand miles. Only to find out that they have NO RECORD of servicing the car on there database at all. And they advised me that maybe it was done though one of there employees as a back door job privatley. But it has 3 dealership stamps in the book. So they carn't tell me what they have done and on what date over 3 different services. But its still stamped. Surley this is fraud . Any advice is appreciated Read more

Hi
My girlfriend owns a 54 plate Corsa 1.2l We have noticed that after a bit of rain, the next time she drives the car water sloshes into the passenger footwell when turning left for the first couple of corners. After a few left turns this stops, can you offer any advice on sorting this out please?
Thanks Read more

Assuming it's rain water and not a leaking heater matrix then water in footwells is usually leaves and other debris blocking drains in the bulkhead area in engine bay. Look around battery and washer bottle area and make sure they're clean. Also pollen filter could have been changed poorly or the cover not reseated correctly - see fitting instructions here: http://www.puravent.co.uk/filters/display_filter.php?id=94&part=M2176

I was driving my 2002 1.5 clio diesel (78K) the other day when the engine started to make a gurgling noise. I pulled over straight away, turned the engine off and smoke started coming out of the bonnet. After a few minutes, I opened the bonnet and found oil smoking at the back of the engine area. This all happened within a matter of minutes. The car was towed home and left for a couple of weeks as we were going on holiday.

Three weeks later, the car starts first time and the engine seems to run fine. I am told that the oil has come up through the coolant. There appears to be no coolant in the engine when the dip stick is checked. There is oil in the engine albeit a bit low since it has escaped from somewhere! There was no warning of this, the engine did not lose power or pour smoke out the back, no engine warning lights came on either. The car was serviced a couple of months ago (approx 2000miles).... There is too much travel on the handbrake lever of my car. Is it safe to adjust the handbrake at the centre console (under the plastic cover near the handbrake lever) inside the car? Read more

madf

I don't know the Micra at all: but most modern handbrake cables are in sealed runs under the car and the ONLY adjustment is at the handbrake under the console.

Hi,

Thanks for quick reply. Is this an expensive repair or is there a way to easily resolve it?...

I bought a Fiat Ducato Motorhome last year on ebay as spaires or repairs with some damp problems inside the rear of the camper . As i'm a coach- -builder to trade this would be an easy fix just having to re-seal the roof and interiour lining boards replaced and just a make over to update as the van was an 1987 model . There was no body or panel damage at all everything was totaly origional and a few years of dust dirt and grime on the paintwork as hadn't been on the road in a few years. The police came 3 weeks after a v5 was aplied for everything was fine i got my log book .I desided that this was a realy good old van i would keep it. So i spent a fortune on making it a modern camper and renewed the whole inetriour apliances the lot about £2000 spent plus £1000 for the van. MOT TAXED INSRURED it 6 weeks ago insurance have now canceled my policy saying it was a cat B write off . I contacted DVLA as why a log book was isued and they said it deosn't come into the catagory as its a motorised caravan and that they are happy as police report sayed they deemed it road worthy. Citizens advice say it can be changed but wer'nt sure how. Isurance who wrote it of says theres nothing i can do this cannot be changed as the engineers report is that vehicle will be cat B so basicaly tuff.!! So i'm now left with our lovely camper been away in every weekend including a weeks holiday for the last 6 weeks. And cant get insurance. We are totaly gutted as we love it not to mention the work and money spent on it. Please can you help in where to go with this .jim Read more

yes dvd my log book is clean and dvla say they dont catagorise it the same as a car as its a motorised caravan thats why i got log book and that the police only checked it as it had a notification someone declared it sc***ped so they checked vehicle identity and reported in their opinion the vehicle could go back on the road and that was before i started work on it . nothing at all on v5
