I think the only way is to plug a diagnostic unit into the system I may be wrong but that was the only cure on my 2.2 Renault laguna.

I can deal with this for you. The claim is clearly a non fault claim against the third party on your part.
Please email me at lucy.bonhamcarter@autolaw.co.uk so we can get started.
Is there a fuse for the nearside electric window? I have checked fuses in box above a/c on dashboard. Drivers side window works OK.
The window mechanism seized and has been rebuilt so it now works fine from a 12V supply but there is no +12v on the switch so I am guessing that the stalled motor has blown a fuse somewhere?... Read more
Haynes do one and I believe a company called Chilton. It is possible you have also burnt out a relay.

Hi. I am interested in a vehicle that is being sold by a part time trader. The vehicle seems to stack up with all the history, HPI check and condition etc but for some reason I am slightly wary of the trader. How can I prove that he actually owns the vehicle and is entitled to sell it? Thanks. Mark Read more
It's all down to peace of mind isn't it. You are probably spending a lot of money which you can't afford to lose, so in my opinion it's worth paying the bit extra to get it from a reputable dealer that will be there in a few months time if something goes awry.
The fact you are asking the question shows you have doubts, is the price differential worth the potential sleepless nights?
My nearside CV boot has slipped off sightly. When I turn some corners I get a single knock coming from it. When I turn the wheel on full lock and drive in circles I dont get any knocking. I have been told that I need a new CV joint due to this. The boot looks in good condition apart from this. If I put CV grease in the boot and got a new clip would this stop the knock? I was wanting to try this before paying £60 for a supply/fit of a new CV joint. Read more
I would agree with Tom, if its knocking at all the boot must have been off long enough to allow grit into the joint, you will have to change it eventually and it will be an MOT failure.
Ma is getting a bit older now and her much loved Fiesta 1.3 ohv has not got power steering and she's not ready for a change of motor ! Have donor motor R reg 1.3 ohv in local breaker with what appears to be all the bits, change of pulleys, perhaps alternator but will the power rack match up to our steering column ? Has anybody any knowledge on such a job please ?

I think that you will find the Track control arms are different for PS models.
What the difference is I do not know.
My radiator overheats very quickly, after just driving for a short while the thermostat light comes on the dash, looks as if the water has gotten so hot, all of it has just evapourated as when i go to check, the radiator is empty, even after filling up the same day. It could possibly have a hole, the other day after being on the motorway for an hour, i got home and steam was pouring from the bonnet and red liquid pouring out from under the car. If it is a hole i wander if there is anything i could do for a quick fix untill i can affored to get it repaired? Read more
First thing to do: check for holes in radiator: if there are any you will see red/rust/white stains ...If this is the case, you need a new radiator: but there are a number of fixes: Radweld/Barrs Leaks/etc which may work.

Elo,
Just wanted to know if this is normal or not when buying a new car. At the end of March 2010 I purchased the above car and was told I would have it by the end of April, when April came and went I was told I would have it by the middle of July. Yesterday I was called and was told I could pick it up today, great! After a 15 minute drive with the radio playing, all of a sudden it turned itself off, as I was on the A40 and starving I carried on driving as I thought I would see to it when I got home. Big mistake. I called the dealer and he said that he couldn't figure out why I had this problem, I also noticed that when I called a mobile number through the Bluetooth that the person on the other side could hear me but I couldn't hear them through the speaker. I have since taken it back for an inspection and they can only suggest that they will have to remove the stereo and replace it with another one, but get this, apparently they want to take this one out send it to the factory and then send me a new one which means I will have a gaping hole for about 10 days until the replacement one comes in. I have also noticed that you really need to slam the driver’s door to get it shut but not any other door; I have since found out that apparently this is a common problem. All very bonkers. I also filled the diesel 2.0 CRDI tank and within 40 miles the petrol gage had already lost a bar, is this right? If it is then it looks like I will be lucky to get 120 miles out of a tank! Please advise as I might try and get a refund, which would be a shame as it is a nice car to drive.... Read more

I had one where I ignored it clicking and eventually grinding for about 6 months until it finally gave up on the motorway in the rush hour. Luckily I was nearing my exit, it was pulling right, left, up and down and all over, not a pleasant experience. They're only about 15 or £20 but can be a pain to fit depending on the car.
