The Service indicator says 800 miles to go to next service. That will be only 10 months and 10,000 miles since the last B Service (carried out by the dealer I subsequently bought it from a few weeks later).
The car is '04'and coming around 30k miles in total. How can the next service be due so soon? Is this within expectation or would Merc themselves admit to being surprised? The driving has been a mix of local and motorway. Read more
My wife's Nissan keyfob is dying in terms of the rubber button, the fob itself is OK. What are the options for remote keys? I got a quote of £55 for just a plain copy with transponder in, dread to think what the cost of an original would be!
Can anyone:... Read more
Hi got the same problem with my N16 almera, ive looked on ebay and they seem to sell the covers for round about 9.99, or alternatively you can buy the cover, battery, and the two micro chips for 13.99, problem with that is i presume that the micro switches need to be soldered in i think. Just one word to the wise there seems to be two variations of the fob, a 4a or a 6a, stamped in white on the remote cover if you needed a new unit you would need to check these against the one you buy.
Hope that helps....
A while back someone stole my plastic dustcaps from all 4 tyres (how cheap!!!).
So, I bought some cheap metal/aluminium replacements off ebay. However, as I went to leave my car in storage I was going to pump up the tyres but I couldn't get the caps off. I tried turning them with a spanner and the whole valve just ended up turning in the tyre, which seemed strange but didn't cause any damage.... Read more
Now, say the tyre pressure reduced as I couldn't pump it up, how likely is it to be flat spotted?
Will a flat spot get better with pressure and driving or will it be impossible to drive?
I have a Peugeot 405 Turbo N Reg. Diesel that has started making a loud ticking noise behind the glove compartment. It is as loud and as regular as a metronome and ticks 7 times over approx 7 seconds and stops for about 7 seconds before re-starting. It can be stopped by pressing the interior air re-circulation button on the dash. The car has air conditioning. It has been looked at by both an AA patrolman and my local Peugeot Dealer neither have ever heard of a fault like this before.... Read more

The legal forum is for motoring so I thought I would ask some general legal advice here in this section.
Employment law. You have been working for the same employers in the public sector for almost 28 years. The paymasters want to change your conditions. You refuse and they threaten to "sack" you on your old contract and re-employ you on a new contract and new pension scheme.... Read more
Whatever they call it.... that is what they will do. Refuse to accept the new terms and they can get rid of you without redundancy.
I found my door mirror dangling by the door, I cant see anything broken I'm guessing a pedestrian clipped it and somehow forced it out. I don't know how to re attache it to its housing which is the non movable part fixed to the door. Read more
I recently brought a 2001 astra club from evans halshaw. About two weeks ago the temp gauge started fluctuating so i took it to the garage. They decided it was the thermostat so they replaced it along with a new sensor, however now the temp gauge constantly runs at 92-5 degrees even when driving the fan stays on and doesnt go off!! any suggestions on what could be the problem would be greatly appreciated. Take it back to the garage. Regards Peter

If those numbers are correct, that means you have 6 year old car which has done 30,000 miles. That's fairly low mileage for its age, so I guess service indicators would take into account that it's not very often getting up to optimum working conditions
