Nissan Almera SE N16 - Remote key woes, anyone help? - Freewheel

My wife's Nissan keyfob is dying in terms of the rubber button, the fob itself is OK. What are the options for remote keys? I got a quote of £55 for just a plain copy with transponder in, dread to think what the cost of an original would be!

Can anyone:

1. Repair/refurb working but ageing remote keyfobs?

2. Sell me another Nissan key coded for our car??!

3. Point me in the direction of anyone doing a 'universal' keyfob? (Is this possible)?

BTW - it's a 2000 model 1.5SE Nissan if that makes any difference.

Hi got the same problem with my N16 almera, ive looked on ebay and they seem to sell the covers for round about 9.99, or alternatively you can buy the cover, battery, and the two micro chips for 13.99, problem with that is i presume that the micro switches need to be soldered in i think. Just one word to the wise there seems to be two variations of the fob, a 4a or a 6a, stamped in white on the remote cover if you needed a new unit you would need to check these against the one you buy.
