My Suzuki Ignis Sport (35 000 miles) is due its 6th year service in 2
weeks' time, no trouble at all since I've had it, I am very happy with it
and want to keep it for at least another 6 years!
The main Suzuki dealer in my area (that I've almost always used) gave me 2 possibilities.
1) they do the 6th year service as per Suzuki's job list, cost: £325... Read more
afternoon, me again ...
These snapped and flew off on the motorway a few years ago. In terms of replacing them, what are they called, how/where do I get them from, how to fix on and how much is it likely to cost me?... Read more
afternoon all
I've linked below to photos I've taken of the scartches, scrapes and chips I've accumulated over the years to seek your advice on how I'm best to tackle them.... Read more
Nicky, sorry to be blunt but that lot is beyond the odd spray can or chip pen from Halfords.
There is so many of them and some of them have dented the body work, that nothing short of a full respray will do it. can you make it worse? yes areas that big, that many and that deep will look a mess if you use the spray cans and pens.
Some of you have noticed that the "classified" section is no more. This has been taken out as it was so infrequently used. We are working on a more robust mechanism for handling private classifieds but it won't be ready for a while. If there is enough interest we can restore this forum, it had a total of 4 threads in it when we removed it, which is why we decided it wasn't of interest or use to you. Read more

Sooo Nice of you to decide for us what is of interest or use. Isnt that callled propaganda?...
Is there a correct way to reset the PcM on the Ford TDci? I've heard various ideas (after disconnecting the battery for a time to "clear the memory") including "warm the engine on tickover then drive for 10 miles", "drive slowly" "drive fast" "drive normally" etc etc.
So after the battery has been disconnected for a few hours is there a "right" way to do it, or do you just drive the vehicle? are you supposed to warm it up first, or does it not matter? Drive a minimum of 10 miles at once or does that not matter either? can you do it "wrong" and get an engine that does not perform as it should? Read more
Well, as nobody seems to know I will reply to my own message! It seems that you can speed the process up by using the correct procedure, but the PCM will eventually sort itself out after a few hundred miles anyway....so if you do it "wrong" the vehicle will initially not run as well, but will be OK after a few days.
We look back on things like vinyl roofs and matt-black bonnets as car fads that appear highly un-cool now.
I was wondering what things that are fashionable on present-day cars will be laughed at in the future. The thing that comes to mind for me are engine covers that look like dummy engines, with stylised manifolds - are they intake or exhaust - who knows?... Read more
QUOTE:..."In ten years time bMws will be front wheel drive""
Or probably 4-wheel drive - with mechanical drive to rear wheels and electric drive / regenerative braking to front wheels - or the other way round.
Just a bit of useful info really. My hard drive died on my Macbook which is well out of warranty. Took it into apple on Friday and picked it up yesterday. They had replaced the hard drive and up graded it from 60 gigabyte to 160 gigabyte plus replaced the casing as it was a bit scruffy! cost? two trips up to Southampton. also the chap advised me on how best to upgrade the RaM myself, rather than paying them, so I could use Leopard - see, pays to be nice!
For those Mac users, apple are replacing casings on their computers which are showing signs of use/age, so worth a trip into an apple store if yours is battered. Read more
i also upgraded to a Mac last year. a good decision. but i like Unix (i got Linux installed on my first Pc in 1993).
avant you're wrong about Macs. ;-) So far 50% of the moderators have Macs....

Whoever did this 'update' needs to be taken out and shot. Read more
Just had a quick look, still like a warmed up corpse.
I'm about to do a routine service in a couple of weeks' time - oil & filter changes etc. The car has done almost 130k now and I don't know if the transmission oil has ever been changed so I am considering changing this as well.
I know it hasn't been changed in the last 4 years whilst I have owned the car (I bought it when it had done 98k miles).... Read more
I got the correct MTF transmission fluid from the Honda dealership and got the job done this morning. One tip though - if you take a used oil container with you the garage will sell you the MTF from bulk at less than £4.00 per litre otherwise (like me) you'll end up paying £11.00 per litre for the litre bottles.
I am having trouble removing the nuts from the drop link. I cant stop the pin from turning as I undo the nut. I have had a 'torx type' key in the end (presumably this is supposed to aid removal) but the assembly has some rust on it and the torx slot has now stripped hense the shaft just spins - any advise please??

hi bob
try putting the joint under load by jacking up the suspension on the side you are working on....

...or a scrapyard if you want them cheap and know how to get them off without braking them.
