Having had so many useful tips & assistance in the past, I think it would be really good to have a dedicated Computer thread, rather than losing such queries in the "I have a question" thread. Read more

But it could turn into general chat, which in turn could then be separated, it’s a long and ever dividing circle.

I just checked Sky News and there is an amazing (and horrifying) story of a Lorry driver driving along the A1m with a Renault Clio stuck across the front.

Aparently he didn't even notice.... Read more

skittles

find it hard to believe the driver didn't notice, apart from the drag and the noise there must've been a lot of burning rubber.

What was he doing in the outside lane anyway?...

I think a lot of it is foreign lorry drivers. There is a wide and quiet road near me, that recently has become an illegal night stop for them, and in the morning it looks like a gypsy site.

A bit of a pub quiz type of question, but any ideas on the numerically highest-numbered A or B-road?

I would guess it's somewhere in Scotland, but maybe there aren't any 4-digit roads up there? Read more

Hi All,

Just as it sounds really, I converted my A Class from semi auto to manual. I guess the V5 will have to be altered, I can't find anything on the form for this kind of change so what do I have to do, phone or write?... Read more

Devolution

Ring them first and see what they say. Because it's a mechanical change they may require an official letter from the garage that converted it, which is simple enough. I say "may" as I don't know for sure! Obviously for things like replacing a new engine in a car you almost certainly do.

There's some information here (direct.gov) that tells you what changes you must notify the DVLa of. It doesn't mention gears, but as with all things, best to cover your rear. Obviously an edit will be needed if the V5 states aUTO or SEMI aUTO....

As per a previous post of mine regarding hire car charges, I've been "done" again!

Picked a car up at Dublin Airport last week and had to pay a €72 deposit for the fuel. I asked to pay in Sterling (on my CC) so i could get the same Sterling refund when I brought the car back fully fuelled........"no problem sir".... Read more

After having to replace the battery on my Toyota Avensis the language settings on the Sat Nav system have change (I think to Swedish!).

How can I change the language back to English?... Read more

VR6

Depends on which Avensis you have, but on ours when you switch it on it gives a warning about adhering to the rules of the road. On that first screen is a GB flag. You can press the flag to change the country.
