Semi Auto to Manual - Change to V5?

Semi Auto to Manual - Change to V5? - glowplug

Hi All,

Just as it sounds really, I converted my A Class from semi auto to manual. I guess the V5 will have to be altered, I can't find anything on the form for this kind of change so what do I have to do, phone or write?

Anyone else done this?

I haven't done that change, but when they made a mistake on the V5 of one of our cars about 10 years ago, we simply called them up and they told us exactly what we had to put to them in writing, and it was all sorted very quickly - quite painless in fact!

Ring them first and see what they say. Because it's a mechanical change they may require an official letter from the garage that converted it, which is simple enough. I say "may" as I don't know for sure! Obviously for things like replacing a new engine in a car you almost certainly do.

There's some information here (direct.gov) that tells you what changes you must notify the DVLa of. It doesn't mention gears, but as with all things, best to cover your rear. Obviously an edit will be needed if the V5 states aUTO or SEMI aUTO.

[Edit: Does anyone know why in my posts capital letter "a"s are always coming out as small "a"s. It doesn't in other peoples' posts?!]
