you dont have any funds to recover the van? where were the funds coming from to do the restoration then. or the tax, or the insurance.

i have been having this problem aswell. Also, when on a long ish journey, the turbo dies completely. Usually dies when going uphill. Its really beginning to be a pain. when the car has been doing this, i have stopped in a layby for about 10 mins with the engine off then it has been ok for about another 45 miles or so. This is really beginning to p*** me off especially when trying to overtake a lorry on a single track dual carriage way. I am laking my leife into my own hands everytime i try to overtake

i have recently got my hands on a second hand Peugeot 406 LX 2.0 (P reg), and notice the clutch usage is strange compared to a ford or any other car i have driven.
the first issue is i am not able to feel the biting point vibration on the clutch peddle. im sure there is one, but it’s so smooth and feels non existent i sometimes find myself, over revving or stalling.... Read more
Dont know whether this one has a cable or hydraulic clutch, the lack of 'feel' would seem to indicate that it is hydraulic in which case the slave cylinder seal is probably leaking, if its a cable, the auto adjuster is probably faulty.

In normal driving whether a car is FWD or RWD is barely noticeable, as I said earlier - aside from the slight throttle induced directional tug one feels on at the steering wheel on an FWD.
To make a comparison that removes other variables we'd need to compare two versions of otherwise identical vehicles but one has FWD, the other RWD. The only vehicle I can think of that's available in both forms is the Ford Transit. I know the issues are a bit different with vans because there's a big difference in weight distribution between fully loaded and empty. Has anyone driven both types of Transit and is there any significant difference?
coming to the end of a £10,000+ restoration on the above car, i am now having a £3,000+ whole body respray in 2-pack paint.
What extra finishes, other than autoglym's relatively new Detailing Wax, can be applied to the top 2-pack coat to:- (a) seal and protect the paint from enviromental or chemical damage, and (b) add a high-gloss, liquid-look, highly-refelctive finish, much loved and used by modern car manufacturers in the current press ad's ( i.e. Jaguar)... approximately 3 years ago my driving licence was withheld by the DVLa due to me failing the visual field test @ a an optician. as i am a diabetic i had to do this test every 3 years. 2 years prior to the test i lost the sight in my left eye due to a detached retina not being 'replaced' in time. i now have a cataract on that eye but have perfect vision in my right eye when i wear glasses. i wear glasses for looking at the tv and when i am out and about.
at the time i was just outside the DVLa's tolerance for this type of eye problem (20% is the tolerance and i was 22%). i repeated this test at the hospital and the results were similar (21%).... Read more
it would appear that under Section 100 Road traffic act 1988 you have a right of appeal against the decision of the DVLa to a Magistrates court. when they revoked the Licence DVLa should have, according to their site, advised you of this and how to do it.
if they won'tplat ball omn how speak to your local Magistares court clerk or citizens advice....
hello wonder if anyone can help here.
over weekend car started making nasty noise and then when i pulled over it cutout. Recovery man thought tappetts but local mechanic (seems very good) says and i quote 'timing belt slipping like hell'. Question is, is it worth trying a new belt and kit and fingers crossed for no valve damage - was driving at about thirty up hill so pulling 2,.5 k to 3 k revs i guess - or just getting a second hand engine fitted. been quoted £160 to do the belt and kit and £150 to do the engine with a quote of £210 for thengine itself from a breakers.... well bit the bullet and said try the cambelt change see if i got really lucky. Not optimistic every engine supplier i spoke to said about a 1% chance of avoiding damage. Might of got lucky if hadn't tried to restart it several times with the recovery man, it was firing but now sadly seems not to...
