i have a scooter, and after riding it starts to squeek from the front end of the bike. what could be causing this, and how can i resolve this? i have heard this type of noise on a Skoda but i wonder what it is? it goes away after the bike is parked up, but after a journey re-appears.

Your thoughts would be appreciated. Read more

Sounds like you look after your scooter very well. BUT dont use WD40 it washes grease out of things. Its fine for stoping rust, cleaning etc. but light oil is better for cables etc.

I'll bet this is a common problem have you asked the Dealer or looked on any scooter forums ?...

I hadn't seen that, thanks.

I'm not a stock (or bond) picker, though I have a bit of my modest ISA and SIPP savings in a corporate bond managed fund for balance (one with relatively low charges and through a fund supermarket so no front end commission). I suppose I could cut out the middle man, but I don't feel especially confident about buying and selling bonds - any I bought directly would likely have to be investment grade+ and with a view to holding until redemption.

i can think of hundreds of topics that it would be interesting to discuss - but it stunts creativity in having to formulate them as questions requiring an answer.

Put simply, i have no questions about anything.... Read more

Summarises my views very nicely, you two! As an asthmatic I could only stay in some places for a short time before leaving... its nice to be able to stay on a bit longer!

Would agree with the Belgium thing, same in Germany and France... makes you apreciate what we've got!

I'm the opposite as I wear a Shoei and love it although I originally wanted an Arai but couldn't get the fit right.

My Shoei's 4 or 5 years old now so I am also looking for a new lid. Priority for me at the moment is low noise as the Shoei has got really noisy even with earplugs in. If anyone knows of a really quiet lid please reply....

Thanks for the advice.I didn't pick this up until I was in Ireland. I went to the Taskas tapas restaurant in Salubrious Place which is at the start of Wind Street. Brilliant street names. I will try the Bay View next trip

a friend of mine has a bMw 3-series (2.5 ci). the car initially had a faulty fan; this meant that it did not actuate when the engine was becoming very warm. the engine therefore overheated.

Upon replacing the fan (an aftermarket replacement was used), the fan worked for a around 1 week when it then failed again.

is this a known problem on this car, and is there a known cause for this problem.

i am thinking along the lines of relay, wiring or thermoswitch causing this fault. what would be the most likely reason why the fan keeps failing and how can it be tested?

i don't really think cars have changed that drastically over the years from a mechanical point of view. there are obviously changes, but the fundamentals still apply!
