i have ,5 days ago purchased the above and noticed the engine is covered in a white powder deposit this is obviously some form of aluminium corrosion , bearing in mind this vehicle had only done 5 miles and is brand new does this indicate the car has been languishing in a storage field for last 2 years? is it detrimental? should it be there? should the engine be laquered in order to stop this happening?it doesnt look very good from hondas point of view does it?i would be very interested in your comments!

the front passenger side of my audi allroad 2.7t keeps dropping to zero overnight so i took it for a service and apparently there is a hole in the suspension airbag. i have been quoted £500 for a new airbag (as well as some dampers?) plus labour. i would rather order the parts online so my questions are:
what do i need to order and where can i get the suspension airbag? also, if i order online do i need to get any additional parts to go with it.... Read more
Garages will usually charge top price for the parts as they are not likely to shop around for you, i always shop around and its amazing how much you can save, i also do my own repairs which save a lot more. they are likely to buy original makers parts whereas you can get pattern parts at a fraction of the price, your pattern part radiator at £90.00 sounds about right.
components that are peculiar to your particular to your particular car such as the airbag may only be available from the manufacturers but its still worth looking around, ebay is a very good place. GSF also do audi parts.
Like why did my wife drive my beloved Galaxy home without a functioning water pump or power steering on Friday past. the pump having seized and stripped the belt.
She said " it was making a funny noise, then the noise stopped and the power steering failed, then a while later the cooling fan cut in"... Read more

I know the area well from holidays and visiting friends and relatives. And I'm originally from Edinburgh.
Most people commute from the Borders to Edinburgh though!...
hi, i have a 2003 mondeo mk3 estate (100k miles) and there is a really annoying knocking/rattle sound coming from the front drivers side wheel. it seems to be worse in the cold but is always there, more so on uneven road surfaces.
i initially thought it was the wishbone bush but have been advised that this is unlikely as there is no handling difference and all tyres are wearing normally.... Read more
anti roll bar drop links are notorious on other cars for causing a rattle as they have no permamnent load on them so on rough surfaces they can clatter continiously. i have changed several on citroens and they are very easy, one nut on each end, not had any experience with Ford ones though.
brother in law had new clutch fitted recently, works fine but speedo has ceased to function - the garage concerned will apparently 'consult a Peugeot dealer' to find out why, but frankly it needs fixing - is there a simple diagnostic / part from scrapyard? Does a cable just screw into the gearbox that was not reconnected and could we do it ourselves? any help / advice appreciated as always. Read more
if this uses a 1.9 XUD engine there is a sensor mounted on the diff housing just above where the o/s driveshaft fits in which could be the problem, it maybe that they didn't plug it back in. if the sensor is faulty its not difficult to change.
hello.
i put my car in for a service today at a dealership, they then called me to let me know that the sump plug fits loosely and that the threads are stripped and it'll be £250 plus to replace the sump!... Read more
As long as you can prove only they have touched the sum plug in the cars lifetime, then you have a really good case to prove they stripped it through poor workmanship
or its manufacturer defect.
hi, i've just bought a 2002 Mondeo (<60,000 miles). i've noticed a slight shaking of the steering wheel as i start up if the wheel is off-centre (turning left or right at a junction) which stops after a second or so. i've tried reversing with left and right lock to check the driveshafts and not heard anything, looked underneath and all the gaiters and bushes seem oK. can anyone suggest what to look for next ? it doesn't seem a big issue, but i don't want to leave it to get worse. thanks ! could be the pump belt slipping
hi, i was wondering if anyone can help me. My blowers on my car just cut out one day. i had an auto electrician come out and he changed something on it (not sure what it was). about 3 months later they stopped again. once again this part was changed and all was okay for a couple of months. then yes you've guessed it it stopped again. this time i couldn't afford to get it fixed and as it was summer i was managing fine. thenm of course winter came and it caused a few problems and then when the snow came it was undrivable - i know i should have got it fixed but i honestly could not afford to (i had just lost my job and was losing the house too - Now i have a job but sadly still lost the house) anyway, after the snow had all gone i was driving my car to pick the kids up and magically the blowers started working!!!!!! it has been fantastic for about 6 weeks, having heat but alas that all ended on Saturday morning when we set off in the car and noticed the blowers were not working again!!!! Yet 2 mins later they started again. but yesterday they stopped again and still do not work. i would have thought that with the blowerrs coming on on saturday while driving that it is some kind of loose connection. but where do i start. is it something simple or should i expect a huge bill if i take it to the garage. any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.
