Ford Mondeo III - Steering wheel vibration - thebodger

hi, i've just bought a 2002 Mondeo (<60,000 miles). i've noticed a slight shaking of the steering wheel as i start up if the wheel is off-centre (turning left or right at a junction) which stops after a second or so. i've tried reversing with left and right lock to check the driveshafts and not heard anything, looked underneath and all the gaiters and bushes seem oK. can anyone suggest what to look for next ? it doesn't seem a big issue, but i don't want to leave it to get worse. thanks !

have you checked the powers steering fluid levels?

had a look - can't see through the reservoir, when i took the reservoir cap off i could see dodgy brown liquid just about up to the brown adaptor under the reservoir cap ?

hmmm, the fluid should be a pinky colour. Possibly an issue with the pump or hoses? i would change the fluid first though.

could be the pump belt slipping
