I've had my 307 now for about a year and fear I'm suffering from a bad case of peugeot build quality, various MOT failing faults have cropped up first off my drivers seat seems to be collapsing, but got that covered. Now the Indicator is all over the place and my horn only works intermitentley have been informed that in all likelyhood that its my com 2000 unit but I hate the Idea of forking over £300 to peugeot for a new one. Anyone know where I might get one for less? And while I'm on anyone know where I might be able to get my hands on a cheap spare key??
I'm soo not getting another peugeot!

Is there an instruction booklet for the on-board DVD players? If so, where can I get a copy? Is it possible to hear the sound from the car speakers rather than the headphones?
Also - is it possible to have the speedo back-lit without the lights on.
And - can a remote entry device be fitted to the key as it's a pain to have to use the door lock each time!!

many after market alarm systems have remote central locking facilities, they will only set you back a couple of hundred quid if you want one which will lock the door, boot, close all the windows and sun roof. Some will even start your car for those cold mornings. I have a GEMINI system but there are plenty out there at many price ranges, some can even drop your insurance, speak to them first, see what you can save first. then decide how much you want to spend and then what functions you want. Good luck!
I have had to have a new tyre today because, apparently, the original tyre had been incorrectly repaired previously.
I went to an independent tyre dealer, which I have used before, with a (very) slow puncture. The fitter was very conscientious; he inspected the outside of the tyre, then removed it from the wheel and inspected the inside. Finding nothing, he replaced the tyre on the wheel, reinflated it and fetched a bucket of soapy water and sponged it over the tyre until he discovered a tiny leak, blowing very small bubbles.
The leak was on the site of a previous repair, done at the same dealer. The fitter attempted to repair it, but when he did the soapy water test it was still leaking. The fitter said that he thought the foreign object which caused the original puncture had not been removed and was causing the leak, or that the air was escaping from another (unidentified)place and exiting through the original hole.
The method of repair (both times) seemed to be smearing some sort of sealant on the inside of the tyre. In the past, when I have had tyres repaired, the hole has been drilled out and a rubber plug has been inserted and (I think) heat treated to make a good seal. I can't help but think that this method been used in the 1st place, my tyre would still be OK (it was a Michelin Primacy with plenty of tread left on it). As it was, they offered me a discount on a new tyre, which I accepted.
Does anyone know anything about modern tyre repairs?
Thanks,
Mr T.

Had a slow leak on a steel wheel-turned out to be be the join in the wheel when it was made-originally sealed by the paint but leaked as it aged.Fixed with a tube.
I was stopped by the police yesterday and issued a FPN for using a mobile whilst driving. I now notice that the police have entered the wrong road name - is there a way of disputing the FPN? All advice gratefully received. Read more

Dog, we don't need a link to another site when it's already on this one.

Hi All
Starting to think about the next car for my wife, either new or up to a year old. I've had a look through the car-by-car breakdown, and have a couple of possibilities in mind, but would like advice from you before I say what are my current favourites.
Wish list for the car is as follows :
Cost up to £6.5k
Small car, but must be 5 door and the boot big enough for a guitar
Safety very important
Reliable
Long-lasting (current car = 10 year old Micra - she wants the next one to last as long)
As few gadgets as possible (eg no alloys) but must have air con
Main use = town driving
Image not important, nor is performance. But economy and low VED are important.
Given that small cars don't depreciate too much in the first year, I may be tempted to go for the extra peace of mind of buying brand new.
Should be grateful for your suggestions, everyone. Read more
I was in Motorpoint in Newport a few weeks ago and was amazed how many cheap pre-reg and 1 year old Nissan Micras they had - manual and autos - so perhaps worth a look.
My boss (a fellow co. Director) is selling his wifes 3 series estate.
I am potentially interested in it and he said he would do me a good deal on it for me.
I've seen the car once before and I recall it was metallic grey but can't recall it being petrol or diesel or auto or manual.
Looking at various used car sites the vast majority of 3 series estates are 320d.
The car in question is a 2005 model with 100k miles - full BMWSH.
Question - did BMW make the 3 series estate in anything other than the 320d version? I am guess yes - it would seem odd not to offer a range of engine options.
Price wise I don' know yet know how much he wants but I get the feeling it will be less than the dealer is offering him (we get on well and he is not short of cash so wouldn't be looking for top dollar).
As soon as I know the engine and spec I will be asking the BR questions about anything I should look out for (e.g. major services etc). Read more
DavidHM - I don't disagree with your comments, the car could be a good buy in the right circumstances, especially as its history is known.
However it's difficult to establish a value for the vehicle - the links are aimed at people who want to buy cars, it's a different kettle of fish when you want to sell one.
Of course, we still don't know much about the car referred to by the OP, so all this guesswork is a bit pointless. Plus the boss might have a completely different idea of the cars value.
I have an i10 comfort on order....silly me?
I haven't yet seen any on the roads so
far. Are any coming into the UK now?
A few seem to have one but not me yet :-(
Mine was promised end of August but it's not even in the showroom so far.

Got my Mica Black one 12 days ago, Lovely little car, plus the wife loves it as well. The boot is a bit small, but look how much room there is in the back for passengers! More than the 206 which it has replaced for sure.
Highly recommended to anyone looking for a city car. Surprisingly nippy as well.

This car seems to be playing up something rotten recently, so I thought I'd put a post up.
The main thing I've noticed just recently is that, on startup, the oil pressure light flickers about 1-2 seconds after the engine fires. Additionally the engine management light appears and disappears intermittently (both of these happened at around the same time, about 250 miles ago). Assuming a sensor glitch when the engine management light first appeared I was going to wait until the MOT (due Sep 12th) but I'm not so sure now.
The engine is running normally and the oil level is just under the max -- exactly where it was 5000 miles ago when the car was last serviced.
Additionally, about 2000 miles ago the light that tells you when the screenwash is low stopped functioning. Again this didn't bother me at the time, but all these things happening almost together has got me wondering if there is not something more serious going awry behind the scenes.
Car is a 1.8 Nissan Primera Mk3 (QG18DE engine), 220,000 miles, with unknown service history from 80,000 to 190,000 miles. Read more
I'd forgotten all about this post...!
Sounds like I'd better get it looked at. If it is the ECU going bonkers it's probably best to get shot before the bill arrives.
Simple questions on behalf of work colleague who has mislaid the owners manual:
1) when should the cambelt be changed? Car is year 2002 with 49K on the clock
2) what is the "second" dipstick for on the R/H front side of the engine?
Thanks in anticipation. Read more
1/ MkIII Mondeos are all chain cam so dont need a cam belt change, that is 1.8 and 2.0 4cyl petrol, 2.5 and 3.0 6cyl petrol and 2.0 and 2.2 diesel. 2000 to 2007.
2/ Yes, the other dipstick will be the auto fluid level, should be a red fluid.

Might give that a whirl, infact I recently spotted a peugeot specialist about 50 feet from the place I'm getting a new drivers seat from. but at this point don't think I'll ever own a peugeot again and might consider an insurance fire if it persists in its awful fashion.
