Hi
Decided to change the T.belt on My Corsa 1.5TD
it didn't go very well I managed to get the Pump pulley to jump a tooth or two when turning the Crank. So it wasn't running to well. hard to start and when it did running very rough indeed.
So took the Belt back off made sure everything was lined up correctly. Put a couple of lock Bolts in to the Cam & Pump pulleys. Used Drill Bits the first time, think thats why the Pulley jumped.
Started first time running but still a little lumpy on tick over never did that before I changed the Belt.
So I'm wondering if the Timing is still a fraction out maybe Half a Tooth ?
Would it be possible to slacken the pump off and move it a fraction to bring the timing in to line ? or better to try and refit the belt again ?
Thanks for any advice
Regards
Ian.H

A DTI pump timing set is very expensive for once-only use; far better and cheaper to get a diesel specialist to set it up.

Out of respect for surviving family & friends of those involved in the crash, this is being locked before any conspiracy theories start.

Is Fiat to go onto its knees despite a great new range of cars?

Allegedly

"shutting four of its five plants in Italy for one week per month from September to November"
"raising its car prices to account for the skyrocketing costs of raw materials."

Is this the start of a complete `belly flop`?

Why? Were some of its customers affected by the recent car mag surveys and is a canada goose coming home to roost?

Can`t help feeling its unfortunate, given the galvanising and great engines.... Read more

FIAT received a positive health report in The Economist only a few weeks ago. I doubt their business is in any kind of real trouble. That said, moving out of Italy in the present economic climate makes a lot of sense.

Hi

Want to do an oil change on this car. Does anyone know the correct size spanner needed to undo the sump nut? Also to loosen the nut do I need to turn clockwise or anti clockwise?

Thanks Read more

Hi

My ZX Volcane TD has just failed its MOT quite badly :( one of the reasons is worn bushes and pins etc causing knocks on the rear axle. I have been told a replacement rear axle assembly is the best course of action but before I go ahead with the work I need to know 2 things -

Is the rear axle assembly on the Volcane the same as all the other ZX axles?
If so if I'm buying one from a scrap merchant how much should I be paying?

Thanks

Thanks for all the help and advice given, I have now decided to get rid of the car as I don't have the time and space to fix it up.

Thanks again

My Passat 130 TDI has a six speed manual box and I have noticed a few times in the past that it has been dificult to engage into gear but has cured itself within seconds however first thing this morning the car engaged into gear easily and drove normally for about half a mile then I could not get the car out of first gear without using both hands and I could only select gears 1 through to 4 for about another mile, then the gearbox returned to it's usual self. I've checked the Haynes manual and the Bentley Publishers web page and have no clue what the fault may be. According to the diagrams in the Haynes manual there appears to be a balljoint in the linkage would I be correct in assuming that perhaps this balljoint has become stiff and is locking the selector? Ralph,
This has just started to happen to mine and I was dreading a replacement clutch - at only 45K miles!!. This seems to be a much cheaper fix. Can you tell me roughly how much it cost you?
Thanks,
Chips.

I received a PCN issued through the post from a private company after parking in the loading bay area of a local shopping centre after overheating due to the fan for the radiator packing up. They say they have a contract with the landowners and there is a sign in place warning of camera surveillance. There is no manouvere for appeal. I've never dealt with a private company before. Is this ticket enforceable?

Can anyone suggest a museum or other place, preferably with a motoring theme, to visit in Hampshire area, must be open on a Sunday.

Preferably near A30, A303, or M3.

All I can think of are the Airborne Forces Museum in Aldershot and the Gurkha Museum in Church Crookham. Any ideas please? Read more

OK, it's not motoring, but they all have engines:
