other photos of the crash site have shown the lorry was on its' correct side of the carriageway originally (the impact had been on the correct side), then the debris and road scratches have moved from the correct side to the incorrect side.
Hope that makes sense.
Lorry hit car on lorries correct side (car's incorrect side) and the momentum of the lorry has picked up the car and forced it backwards eventually being on the lorries incorrect side of the road.

I see. Thanks Westpig!

The only facts that are "known" is that an illegally-overloaded old car, driven by a young driver, late at night, with mixed-sex passengers, at least some of whom were unbelted; hit a truck head-on at high speed.
The "true" story will have to wait for the inquest.

Lorry hit car on lorries correct side
WP - Thanks for the "insider" info. And so explains why the BBC story says "Police said there will be no further action".
Just goes to show why people should not jump to conclusions on the basis of the "final" photographs.

It wasn't really insider info. The pic in yesterday's paper showed all the marks on the road and made it quite clear what had happened.
A 'tragedy', as they call it these days, for those concerned. But one that was waiting to happen. Makes your blood run cold. I haven't driven like that, ever, to the best of my memory. But I have been a passenger in cars driven like that.
How on earth did we all survive our youth?

Out of respect for surviving family & friends of those involved in the crash, this is being locked before any conspiracy theories start.
