Hello everyone - I have just joined today. I have just bought an 03 '45' after moving from Renault and I am really pleased with it, but want to know a couple of things wjich may seem basic to the forum, so please humour a pensioner!

1. The car has only done 19K and is immaculate with all the books/service docs. There was a radio code for it, but not a Key Accesss Code. Do I need this and where can I get it from?

2. The vehicle is a pale metallic blue, but don't know the colour. How do i find this and order a touchup stick (not that I need it yet)?

3. The interior like all the car is immaculate, but I notice that the rear parcel shelf has a 'very slight 'mauve? hue to it. It looks original, but is this correct?

4. The engine seems to have a slightly 'throaty' sound to it after my previous car - especially when starting, but runs fairly quietly once warmed up. Is thi usual for a Rover as my friend's 75 seems quiter as does another's 25. Is it because of the 1.8 engine?

5 Finally, there does seem more road noise than previous car - however, it has had all new tyres fitted on picking it up earlier this week.

Sorry with all these questions and thank you everyone.

Thanks everyone for the information:

Have found paint colour from VIN plate which is JYA and is not available in Halfords for some reason, but which is Rover Teal Blue.

Actually I got it from a local reputable dealer and it had one owner at 19K and cost £3995.

Engine does get a lot quieter after a couple of miles and when I get out exhaust sounds ok. Must be that I have been used to a quiet 1.6 before!

Re tyres: Front pair are Michelin and they a hve a pattern which has two lines going around the tyre and normal tread? The rear pair are brand new and are called Roadstone -unusually they seem to have no line going around them and they say on them Radials?. Size is 195/55 on a 15" alloy.

My Golf is constantly telling me that my handbrake is on and keeps flashing the relevant warning light on the dashboard display- which as you can imagine is very annoying. I have ensured the handbraks is always all the way down but to now avail.
I took it to the VW garage and - annoyingly - they said they couldnt find a problem as it didn't do it when it was there. Someone said it could be a faulty handbrake switch but when i told the people at VW they said that it wasnt the case. Has anybody else had a similar problem?

Many thanks

Is it the same warning light that's used for low brake fluid level? Might be worth a quick check?

Does anybody know where I can find a list of events for 2008 on the net?
I appreciate that I can Google all the circuits (and combines) individually, but I usually plan me UK hols based upon what's on and where, bikes and cars, and checking and rechecking takes an age. Grateful for any pointers.

The car is fitted with Mercedes red/green light infrared remote control system. Have changed the batteries in the remote and synchronised them and still the doors won't lock and the engine won't turn over. Any ideas?! Read more

>>all of them could do with changing!

Yes, I have done exactly this just a few weeks ago, after a remarkably similar experience. In my case, a fuse had snapped rather than had blown, stopping me from starting the car.

Hi, looking for a quick answer if possible.

How do I remove the plastic cover to an interior light on the transit. Assume it may be the same as some other Fords. It has a small slot that I can put a slim screwdriver through but I have wiggled this about and can't seem to find any clips.

Any ideas?

My goodness that is a lot of money - you must have been unlucky. Have
you put at lest 30k miles?

20k - and that includes 2 services at a main dealer and a set of Eagle F1 GS-D3's @ £600.

I've just re-calculated - £1500 is the total.

Noticed in the 29th Feb Best Deals article, DtD have 3dr CZ1 Colt at £7239.

Yet Mitsubishi's own price (special offer, but seems never ending) is £6999 and my local dealer has been advertising them for at least a year for £5999. Read more

I wonder if any of you use software to track mot servicing times? i have a few cars in the household and a motorbike. i also help friends and family with their mots and servicing.

ive just recently gone over the mot date on one my cars. which made me think if there was something out there?
quick search showed mainly dealers software. looking on the net there is software for fleet companys that track when mots are due and servicing etc but costly.

are there any out there for households or even to add friends and family. that way i can set reminders for me to for mots, servicing.

anyone use the software?
recommend another way?

This is a very sore point at the moment.

Got a call from SWMBO on Tuesday morning as she was driving the Scenic to work. "Did you know my MOT ran out last week?"
>>insert some choice swear words here<<
Friendly garage squeezed it in first thing yesterday morning and it passed, thankfully (although picked up an advisory on the early signs of a leaking rear shock).

I've never done this before, and have always been quite intolerant of those who claim 'oversight', but it does genuinely happen.

No need for flashy software solutions. I've just added MOT dates to the list of stuff to be written onto next years calendar before we put it up.
