Can anyone help / advise? 2002 Mondeo hatch - the rear centre seat belt inertia reel seems to have jammed or otherwise failed in the 'not in use' position - in other words, I can't pull the belt out to use it. Is there a means of checking the mechanism without pulling the cloth covering off the back of the seat?

Thanks

It is not a problem at all!

Rather it is making sure the centre belt is not used when the near side seat back is not properly locked back.

I've searched the forum , but can't find anything about this.

Why am I getting BIG static shocks from my car when I get out of it, it's only happening in the cold dry weather, and it really hurts!

Is there any way of preventing these shocks? Read more

Having changed from a faultless Almera to a Passat in the last 4 months have had my second problem, now with the indicators not working even with the hazard button pressed.First problem was a crack in one of the clutch ?pipes that left me stranded in front of Terminal 3 Heathrow creating a half a mile tailback in the process!
And that was last week!

Im now seriously thinking of a spare car to use whenever this damn thing breaks down or develops faults!Much in the same way one would use a spare wheel when needed!!!

Looking ideally for a car which is reliable, and cheap with low insurance and preferably small(less things to go wrong).Dont care about the looks and image.

Oh and since it will probably stay on some public road when not in use which will hopefully be most of the time, should be least attractive to car thieves!Dont care too much about the age but should be as discreet and attracting as least attention as possible.

Obviously the older model Almera is a good choice, however cant find any cheap ones in my area.

Any ideas welcome.

Thanks.

Agree with Geneva John. You'd have to tax and insure the spare car, so it'll cost you less in the long run to have just one, reliable, car.

If you were happy with Nissan, a Primera is Passat-size, or Honda Accord, Toyota Avensis, Mazda 6 or 626 (depending what age you're buying). Skoda Octavia is another possibility - I know they're also VAG but most owners are very satisfied withthem.

Driving with the Passat yesterday evening when the turning indicators started to die, ie started blinking intermittently, then after a few miles no response at all.

Wondering whether the hazard light would work, again initial few attempts at pressing it yielded nothing at all, so Im now left with an car with no functioning indicators. All the other lights and electrics work.

Does anyone have any ideas on a quick remedy and what to do.

Can I call the RAC breakdown for this reason??

Any ideas thanks in advance. Read more

How old is the car, John? If it's the penultimate model the relay is behind the hazard warning switch. Can you hear it "ticking"? Are any of the other electrics playing up?

My Corsa 1.0 Life lost it's life last week! It burst into flames whilst stationary, 15 mins after being driven. Is written off as is the car infront. The car has been examined by insurance company, strongly indicating electrical fault they say.

Deep breath...firstly, am having real difficulty in obtaining report from insurers re the inspection. The car is still under warranty. Have been in touch with manufacturers who say they cannot do anything until they rececive a copy of report, but insurers now say they can't forward as is a private document and manufacturers say for them to inspect the car I would need to pay for it to be delivered to dealership but they won't consider this until they have seen a copy of the report!

Is anyone aware of similar problems with this car?
I was told by manufacturers that all Corsas from this year need replacecment ECU's which the dealerships provide free under the warranty - would this have had anything to do with the explosion and fire or is that impossible to say?
Also, insurers said I would have to provide evidence car had been serviced by dealership for claim to be valid. I thought this was now illegal and is fine providing genuine Vauxhall parts are used or is that more a warranty issue with manufactuers rather than insurers?
I am without a hire car whilst the claim is being investigated. Both insurers and Manufacturers will not provide me with one!
Any suggestions on all counts shall be greatly welcomed

Cheers - haven't retrieved wheel or contacted insurers about it.
Now looking for new wheels, energies best put into that I reckon - you're right with what you said.

Whilst servicing an 03 plate Clio Dci, I was wondering how you bleed the air when changing the fuel filter or do you simply prime the filter using hand pump and the pump's then self bleeding. I'm new to this new Dci setup and was concerned about anything going wrong.
Any advice would be appreciated.

IIRC, when I changed mine, I just pumped the bulb primer for a bit and the pump then self bleeds.

Question Jag Battery
ukjohnny

HI
Son has Jaguar Soveriegn 4litre 1990.
Hes a taxi driver, so leaves Jag sometimes days before driving it again. as of late hes found the battery completely dead. He even bought a new battery, but after a few days its dead. he checked all the usual things, as lights ect, and was told by mate to check bonnet didnt touch battery on closing. all seemed ok. Then I noticed tonight that his electric arial was not retracting fully, only retracting halfway, so pushed it fully home. Do you think that this maybe the cause?? that the arial is still trying to close?

Hi Lads

Well, its been left six days now, with a fully charged battery connected. Started it this afternoon, and its perfect, battery still fully charged.
So it was, either the boot light, which i removed. Or the electric Radio arial, which i made sure was fully retracted.
So, thanks boys for the tips.

Calling all owners/drivers of a current Mondeo.

Can anyone tell me what the 2 switch blank positions to the right of the heated seat controls in front of the gear lever are please.

I know that one of them is ESP (the right hand one I think), but I'm struggling to find out what the other one is for.

Thanks in anticipation ......

Hi there people i own an audi 80 H registration,It is a 2.0 e.I am looking for the inlet air temperature sensor.I have looked at my engine and there are lots of sensor connectors on it.I believe it is the connector nearest the airbox which is connected to a little black box,But i would like this to be confirmed for me.There are a few more sensors towards the inlet manifold but i figure the air temperature would need to be taken straight after the airbox. The sensor i see has two wires connected to it and is right above the airbox which is basically hidden from view as it's tucked away underneath what i believe to be the power steering pump just because it has hydraulic lines connected to it.Please help me!! You didn't actually believe that e-bay guff that sticking a 2p resistor across the air temp sensor will magically "transform the power of your car" - did you?

You'd better send it back, because the KE-Motronic system on a '90 2.0E doesn't actually use one. If you want to alter the mixture on those, you don't need a silly e-bay resistor; Bosch give you an adjusting screw! [Take a tip though: don't fiddle with it!]
