Driving with the Passat yesterday evening when the turning indicators started to die, ie started blinking intermittently, then after a few miles no response at all.
Wondering whether the hazard light would work, again initial few attempts at pressing it yielded nothing at all, so Im now left with an car with no functioning indicators. All the other lights and electrics work.
Does anyone have any ideas on a quick remedy and what to do.
Can I call the RAC breakdown for this reason??
Any ideas thanks in advance.

Broken fuse/relay?

Relay was the first thing that sprang to my mind.

JohnX,
I had the same thing happen my Passat a few days out of warranty. Whatever it was was replaced foc so it can't have been expensive. Do cars still have "flasher units"? If so, that's what it is.

How old is the car, John? If it's the penultimate model the relay is behind the hazard warning switch. Can you hear it "ticking"? Are any of the other electrics playing up?
