It had a wheel alignment from national approx 1 month ago - But they never give reports to how bad or good it was

Can't see any point in that, if it's true. Go to a proper garage for a full tracking check.

Due to BMW’s poor quality of protection from rust/corrosion on many issues.

Someone who has a BMW E92 M3, recently it failed its MOT due rust and corrosion to the rear subframe causing movement and needs a replacement.

He having searched the usual places online and most are no better than current one fitted.
The M3 frame differs from the standard run of models.

For a MOT pass can the bad areas be cut and removed then be plated and welded etc putting the strength back into the frame.

Hmm, from a person who has done lots of welding in my time I'd say this is a recipe for disaster. It's really difficult(impossible) to do this safely and permanently. Anyway if it's got that bad already most of the subframe will be on it's way out. Also remember an M3 has more horses to deal with.

It's a case of a new subframe if possible or a good used one. Rustproof either thoroughly - myself I'm a fan of Owatrol oil externally and Dinitrol internally. ...

My rear window heater now only works on the upper half of the element. Does anybody know a fix for this or does it mean a replacement screen? Thanks. Read more

I can’t remember the name either , but I do remember those Smiths stick on rear demister panels that were popular before heated rear windows were standard fit .

I remember fitting one to my wife's Morris Minor in the early 90s. You could warm your hands on the outside of the rear window.

Remember, we heard similar 'definitive evidence' of the environmental credntials of switching to diesel 20 years ago which turned out to be nowhere near true for a lot of people. Reports and 'scientific studies' can easily be manipulated to suit an agenda.

The government was pushing it as they do produce less CO2 - but I'd not class something the government of the day said as 'definitive evidence'. What scientific studies were you referring to?...

I see that Andrew Brady believes that chargers are 100% efficient. According to his maths, a 70 kWh battery needs 70 kWh of electricity to charge it.

I bought 4 new Pirelli tyres from my usual garage here in Fife, Scotland. They have ruined the ride of my otherwise fine car to the point I thought the suspension had a problem, other garage checked and says it is fine but the tyres are 4.5 years old when supplied.

The garage that supplied the tyres claim that the supplier has told them that they can sell tyres as new that are up to 7 years old as long as they havent been used.... Read more

“ A frequent problem for the long suffering car driver is a long line of trucks doing 56mph and one selfish truck driver whose cruise control (presumably) is 0.5 mph faster than the long line.” The selfish one is the driver of the vehicle or vehicles he’s overtaking. If a coach has the legs over mine and pulls out to overtake, i’ll lift off for a few seconds to let them past as quickly as possible. Buses are on a tight schedule usually and trucks often have delivery windows or a ferry to catch.

I suppose that the problem is when a line of similar HGVs overtakes one slightly slower one - does that vehicle drop another few mph for the couple minutes every time this happens? They might be then behind schedule.

Maybe this stems from speedos / tachos not being quite the same in accuracy and drivers and employers insisting they drive right at the maximum they are allowed to....
