Hi folks. I’ve had this crv for a few months now,and I’m very happy with it,apart from one thing. The heater in this Honda seems to take ages to get the warm air flowing. I’ve had loads of cars older than this, and they never seemed to be an issue. Is there anything I should check,or is it just a slow heater upper?! Cheers Read more
My heater would demist all the windows without the AC on (it had no gas so I never used AC for 5 years). In 2018 I got it re-gassed and used AC during the hot summer 2018. Now for the last two winters the heater will only demist the windows when the AC is on. With the AC off the heater works fine but it fails to demist. Can someone explain why this is and how I can demist without AC ? .....Thank you. Read more
Every car I've ever owned with A.C does this - I assume moisture is held at bay somewhere and when the A.C. is turned off it gets blown out and condenses onto the cold windows.
You could try leaving the setting on footwell only so it hasn't got a direct route to the screen
Hi,
I purchased a Nissan primastar Van 2005 on a Sunday drove it home, all good.
went to work Monday & Tuesday no problems.
Tuesday evening went out parked up for 2 hours, tried to start it, with no luck. It will start run for a few seconds & cut out.
Try to start it again straight away cuts out immediately, leave it a few minutes or so & will run for a few sec's again, then cut out.
Cleaned the mass flow, EGR valve & replaced camshaft sensor. AS advised by some mechanic's.
Please help !! what next??????? Read more
Is this possibly an immobiliser issue - how about the reader coil? - just a thought.
Also lots of mentions of low voltage - time for a new battery?
This is a useful part of the website and I notice that the number of submissions from owners per manufacturer is displayed, which is good, but a suggestion would be to include the number of submissions per model, as having say 40 for one model would be a more accurate rating than having 2 for another model.

Bought this car on 7th November 2019, it was registered in October 2019, overall I am very pleased with it apart from the dashboard dimming.
In bright sunlight the dash including Sat Nav is bright and clear travelling into shade the whole dash and Sat Nav gets dimmer and dimmer to such an extent that the Clock/OutsideTemp/Fuel Range cannot be read it virtually disappears, the car has been returned to the dealers twice with no success.... Thank you fr your input, I will put it to my dealer when I go there in the New Year and will report back
There are loads of fancy tail lights around, led clusters and indicators that sort of creep along. My car has led indicators and they started playing up...£300 sir...luckily they are behaving at the moment. Saw a Mercedes this morning with blinding tail and brake led style arrangements and there must have been a grands worth on the back. Read more
If a new headlamp etc were to cost £1000 or £2000 then some smart lad will
be able to fix them for say £300 - still a lot more than replacing a bulb....
Have recently had problems with car floor judder , thinking it may be misfiring ,and as 3rd service was due I asked an approved garage in the Dorchester area , to service and sort out the vibration . Very quickly they advised me to return it to the dealer for a warranty repair , as the Dual Mass Flywheel was faulty . Alas the warranty had lapsed just 8 weeks prior to the fault being discovered .The vehicle mileage is just 40,000 and I am told and believe this is not an uncommon occurrence.
I am currently waiting to see if Peugeot feel that a flywheel failure at 40,000 is something they should be obliged to rectify without cost to the customer .We wait to see what happens... Read more
Do you use it for towing or drive it hard? My experience with DMF's on Peugeot's is that they seem to last forever, I have certainly never had to replace one on my 406's which I have run for about 10 years and a couple had 200k+ on them.
I advise everyone to download this - it can be vital at any time, emergency services sometimes have real problems locating people in urban areas.
Building descriptions (its next to the old library etc) aren't useful to a call centre operator who may be miles away. Read more
We (among several other services) use it at the NHS ambulance trust I work for and it really is invaluable for locating people, wherever they may be. Crews get very confused when they are sent a one.three.words address though.
Absolutely hilarious - and in a way, older people expecting to pay less by having one of these horrible devices installed in their car deserve to be conned into paying more for encouraging this blatant abuse of civil liberties and giving the insurance companies such power over younger drivers (some of which are actually good at driving or have many years of accident free experience so don't deserve to be paying humungous amounts for poor quality insurance cover).

Sorry, very vague topic
Background - my wife had a Fiat auto with a weird duologic gearbox which used an actuator to operate a manual gearbox or something. It was never reliable (the gearbox), and we vowed never to get a car with such a daft gearbox again.
So we’re after a VW Polo sized auto car. Using the Polo as an example, there are some autos (Mk 4 to 2009 version) for sale with under 50000 miles within this budget.
How’s the Mk 4 Polo in terms of auto gearbox reliability? Any other similar sized cars with reliable auto gearboxes?
We’re very scared of anything with tiptronic, duologic, MMT (?), etc.
Any suggestions welcomed. Many thanks.

OK, stand down ??
We found a decent low-mileage Skoda Fabia. I must admit as a VW owner myself, albeit a manual, I do like the basic no frills styling of the Fabia. This car should last a good few years. I hadn’t thought of the Fabia and backed off from the tiptronic name, so the replies above were very helpful. Many thanks again.
I have a 2008 2.2 CRV CDTI and it takes about 2 to 3 miles of driving in stop start 30 mph traffic for the temperature gauge to register the first segment and for luke warm air to start coming out the vents. My S-Max diesel puts out warm air after about a mile
