I have been with Autoaid breakdown recovery for the last 2 years, never needed to use them.

It went up a few quid last year to £43.31 and my renewal price has just arrived, the premium has gone up 38.5% to £59.99.... Read more

If they insure you rather than the car the age of the car should not matter as they won't know about your car.

They will if they come to recover you....

When i first start the engine on my car the ABS light comes on, then when i start to drive my car the ABS light turns off for approximately 10 seconds and then the ABS and Traction control lights come on together and do not go off until i stop the car and turn off my engine.

What could be causing this to happen?... Read more

I checked the brake lights and they are working fine. About 6 weeks ago i changed the brake pads and disks, not unless that has anything to do with the warning lights coming on?

Did this coincide with the warning lights coming on?

just to follow on from my last thread regards car insurance and named driver in case someone can add more information.

didn't realise that i was able to transfer my NCD into my wifes name and i am wondering if there are any implications on doing this long term since my wife does more miles than me.... Read more

You need to ask a few questions of your insurer.

Some companies will apparently allow a gap in cover of one or two years and still honour the no claims bonus built up previously...

Hello I was on here before but I am 27 from the UK. How long does it take to usually pass. I haven't got my provisional yet but when I do could I just book the theory test, past that and then book a practical in a test hire car without taking any lessons. I really want to pass by February Read more

Sorry to be a spoilsport, but a majority seem to be in favour of closing this, the bad language being the main problem (whether or not Samuel / Samantha is serious).

And (s)he is STILL using that word as an adverb.

Regarding the replacement of the BMW with an electric vehicle, if your total annual mileage is low and you are elderly it is possible that the reduction in co2 from the running of an electric vehicle never pays back the embodied co2 incurred in its construction especially if the electricity used is generated wholly or partly using non-renewable sources. Smart grids are perhaps an answer. But not in this knowledge poor land. Electric boats might be an advantage as sea levels increase.

VanManBan. Get onto the 'net and search for 'cheap HGV medicals', you do not need to use your own doctor who will trouser some £150 for the medical.

I pay another doctor around £50 for my HGV medical every 5 years (not needed another eye test, she does the standard test at the time), the handy thing about the doctors who specialise in these things is they know how to fill the form in correctly which cuts down on time taken at Swansea.... I have worn varifocal specs for years now and always used same optician but recently noticed TV slightly out of focus.Went to new optician after confirming that they used a dispensing optican; she took various measurements of eyes to ensure correct graduation of lens for reading, middle distance, long distance etc and provided specs to her measurements. They are perfect. You cannot get this service by buying online. OK, costs more but how much is your vision worth?

It's a major third chord at the end of a piece of music in a minor key. Having played O come, O come, Emmanuel, several times during Advent, I never resisted the Tierce de Picardie at the end of the final verse.

That title suggests that Jesus didn't drive an automatic.......

First time poster who doesn't know a lot about cars so go easy on me!

I live in Ireland and i'm looking to change my car. Looking for a family sized (I've 2 kids aged 7 and 5),comfortable, reliable, economical diesel car. Was thinking of a skoda octavia. Skoda dealer rang me with a 2017 octavia style, 23,000 miles on clock and 2 year warranty for very close to my budget. Was emailing a dealer up Northern Ireland who has a 162, 2 litre Mondeo Titanium (leather seats, sat nav etc), fine looking car, only 8000 miles on clock but only 6 months warranty. It'll be roughly the same price as octavia Which would be better from a comfort reliability resale and general running costs point of view? Or is there other cars I should be looking at? Thanks Read more

don't be pressured into feeling that a car you're looking at is the last-chance saloon.
