Re: XF charging
The car has a battery monitoring system connected to the negative terminal. For charging, connect the negative lead to a ground point (the spare wheel bracket is advised) rather than the battery itself. Read more

All season and winter tyres come in to their own below about 7 degrees centigrade where sporty summer tyres are just too hard to get any heat into them - particularly eco ones - there are far more than 10 days a year below that temperature.

Re BMW recall, my X3 goes in next week. I expect a long wait. The dealer has warned me they have a backlog of 120 cars in the pound and no sign yet of parts coming through. Read more

Re Total wiper-out, Not really a problem with Fords (and some VWs), the heated windscreen has cleared the ice / snow before the wipers wipe.

Hi All,

Hope you can help.

Ford Mondeo 2008 petrol cranks but won’t start.

I did replace the fuel pump in March and it failed in two weeks so upon complaining Halfords replaced it and found it to be faulty.

I went away for Easter break and since my return I did 200 miles and the same problem has come up and the Green flag technician thinks it’s fuel pump again.

Could there be any other issue that I should check before as Halfords have refused to investigate again.

Regards,
J

Very likely that the fuel pump is not at fault. What often happens on these , is that the connector pins on top of the pump overheat and result in a poor contact. Ford supply a replacement extension wiring link for around £40.

Presumably you pay a pre-determined, non-negotiable price. Not sure I’d want to miss out on the charade of negotiating a deal face to face with all the sparring and play-acting that goes with it. Read more

Lion Batteries are absolute garbage. I bet there is nothing wrong with the alternator and Euro Car Parts are just trying to fob you off.

Why such low Total Mileages in all the examples?
Anybody who buys a car for such a low mileage should take cabs instead. I bet the excess mileage rates are also extortionate.
Same as range anxiety with an electric car, you’d have mileage anxiety from day one of the lease.

Presume these are meant as second cars, we bought a new BMW X3 last June, wont expect it to have above 10,000 miles after three years
