Hi i have a 2003 citroen relay 2.2 hdi. Its the 8valve peugeot engine. Since owning it the van has felt like the timing is retarded. Problem I have is the flywheel does not have a timing hole. It appears to be an aftermarket job. Various guides on internet do not help. Can anyone advise if the pistons are TDC or level when timing. Even if they are x degrees btdc etc I can work with that using a dti. Read more

Injection timing doesn't only come from the camshaft sensor. It's one of a few sensors that provides the ECM with input information, along with the coolant temperature, crankshaft speed and position, throttle position, mass air flow and turbo boost pressure. With the ECM knowing engine temperature, speed, load, position and the driver's throttle input it can calculate the precise timing point to suit all conditions. Also there are three injection phases on a common rail. First is pre-injection where a small amount of fuel is injected before TDC to reduce knock. Then there's the main injection phase, followed by an after injection phase.

On Wednesday I was kicked and then 'keyjacked' in Berkeley Gardens, W9 by two lads on a scooter. I was riding a scooter myself and of course the second the key left the ignition it was dead so I had to just watch them ride away, unable to give chase.

They've been know for over a year and are untouchable on a bike, legally and logistically.

Phones are another favourite.

Were they kicked straight off the bike? They must have had to pedal it away?

Anyway if it was two...diverse...lads on a Yamaha Tmax it was the same pair...

Bought the low mileage Audi A4 Avant from dealer near Bournemouth, & it came with an AA 5 Star warranty. One month later the PAS developed a fault that needed the hydraulic pump replacing. Local Audi garage in Devon (good reputation & not an expensive main dealer) investigated & the work totalled £800 - however the AA warranty people have weadeled their way out of most of it by quoting for a cheap chinese crap imported part that garage rightly refused to fit + low labour cost + ridiculously short time allowance to fit it. Hence they only paid £300 (2 weeks later) leaving me with £500 bill. Would NEVER use these people (or any other warranty company) again - just try to get some extra money off the car & sort any problems yourself. Should rename it AA Half-a-Star Warranty - they are little short of con men. Read more

As the last pump failed at a low mileage the Audi pump doesn't sound much better than "the cheap Chinese crap".

Was this actually an Audi franchise or an Audi specialist?...

Hi all, first post.

I have south of £9k to spend on a used 7 seater. My optimistic wishlist includes an occasional-use 3rd row which can fit rapidly growing teenagers over the next few years (only 12 now but growth becoming measured in MPH).... Read more

After owning a Mercedes 150, Lexus 200h and Lexus 300h over the last 10 years (al autos) I must say that my present 66 plate Fiesta ecoboost 125 beats them all for ride, handling, visibility and sheer driving pleasure. Read more

My local independent VAG specialist charged me £285 to repair the ABS unit on my Golf Plus using a genuine VAG repair kit. Still all good 3 years on. Issue whilst the ABS light was on was no traction control and improved MPG, but the increased MPG may have been due to over easy driving style and more engine braking, as I needed to continue using the car prior to being repaired. To answe CG's query, I bought a new Ford EcoSport 1.0 EcoBoost 125 Titanium twelve months ago. I must admit I had some reservations, having had a Golf Mk.V 2.0 diesel for the last dozen years. Mine, built in early 2016, benefits from the mid-life upgrades, which addressed the problems highlighted by the initial feedback on the model.
I can honestly say that I find the Ecosport is excellent, the 125 petrol one seems rapid enough for everyday use and it's fine on the motorway. I have owned the first three Marks of XR2 in the past, none of which were as powerful as the Ecosport, which I guess is progress, yet I've seen reviews that suggest the Ecosport is "underpowered".
Unlike most reviewers, I wasn't phased by the door, I had a Suzuki Vitara in the dim & distant past, which has a similar arrangement, personally I'd prefer a split arrangement like the first range Rovers anyway, which is very rare these days. One bonus of the side opening door is that the Ecosport's flat floor level with the opening is that it's a convient and comfotable seat when changing shoes/boots etc,
The interior space is decent enough, though the luggage area is small compared with the Kuga.

Long time since I last did this, and when I did IIRC driving onto the tyre or using the heel of a bottle jack under the car worked OK.

Not any more. Just slip off.... Read more

Bought from an independent garage (2011 Ford C-Max) had it 5 weeks and the clutch went, not just a wear and tear clutch part the actual clutch plate was In bits, garage we bought off wouldn't fix it as had had car over 30 days ended up costing us £800 at local garage and now the steering has gone, it's electric steering so no easy pump to change or part going to cost £1800 for a new steering rack, surely that's something that shouldn't go like that!

I've had the flaming thing 6 months and has nothing but problems, it really stings as it's financed so currently paying for s car that's sat in the garage for long periods of time, I'm in district nursing so need my car, I'm on annual leave this week but god knows what I'll do next week or for weeks after as could take 5 weeks, no second car and no one to borrow off either wish there was some way I could just cut my losses, I can't afford to be paying money out hand over fist for the next 4 years if the first 6 months have been anything to go by Read more

My front electric window goes down without making a noise but squeaks when going up/closing.

I have taken the door panel off and was expecting to see a motor that i could spray some oil on. Actually that may not be a good idea :)... Read more
